I just got into clays and reloading for it, I have been loading 12g for a while but just slug and buckshot. What powders are people using as I can’t find the standards that are usually used like any alliant powders or hodge clays or universal.
Thanks

Titegroup/HighGun has been my go to for the last year or so. Very clean burning and pretty dense. I find I have to go down a size in wad selection to get nice crimps.

Red Dot works good but its pretty much unavailable these days
you can still find tightgroup but it's very dense so you may have stack height issues and may have to use a 3/4 wad to load a 7/8 load for example

Red and green dot where my go too trap load powders, hope someday they will be back, 🤞🏼

Perfect Pattern - it's really dense so you use a lot less - more loads per pound and it burns really clean - I shoot either 3/4 oz or 7/8 oz 12 ga
This stuff is great

Only common thing around now for shotgun powders are, Perfect Pattern, Tite Group and High gun, which all the suppliers seem to be able to get some stock regularly.
TG and HG, by all the net chatter are one in the same powder, with the HG being rebranded as Hodgdon's newest powder. All the bushing manufacturers list the same identical powder throws for both these powders...right to the 1/10th of a grain in all their own bushings !!

Powder prices have risen dramatically 3 times since Dec ! The first couple times was mainly because of the loonie tanking south of the border,(I was told by the supplier) but now, at our local GS, they've jumped nearly 20 bucks a lb two weeks ago on the new arrivals because of the tariffs !!!!! Was 55/lb..now 75/lb !!!
Lead is now 100 bucks a bag with the taxes...and only a few of the Win / Rem 209's around periodically ...Cheddite primers mainly now.
An 8 lb Keg of TG or HG @ Hummason's was 320 bucks in early Dec. The TG is 380 now....400 for the HG !!

Been using a lot of TG ang HG the past few yrs. My #20 (mec) bushing in my 375 P & W Duo throws 20 .5 grains of either one. This gives me my 1300 fps 1 oz load (reasonably close either way) which I love and settled on !
Lots of data for them on line, even the new Lyman #6 has the data for the PP, HG !

Yea..stack height and good crimps were an issue at first...we've been droppin a cherrio in the wad prior to the shot..problem solved with excellent crimps ! Another squad mate adds his on top of the shot...his crimps are a little more off than mine..but that could be his loaders adjustment.
Another buddy of mine said he only had fruit loops on hand, so that's what he used ! While he says he loves the smell of his shells now, the squirrels are always chasing him down 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

The only powder I’ve been able to find is tightgroup and long shot
I’d like to try some tightwad but haven’t found any yet
Our local shop got some old powder in that someone brought in so got a pound of universal for my 20 guage and a half pound of unique to tide me over for a bit
A buddy of mine has an old keg of sr7625 that I want to make a few 12 gauge loads with

700X about 17.8 gr behind 1 oz #8 in federal gold medal hulls with12SO wads gives you 1200 FPS I have 20 flats ready to go for spring
When Ioaded 12 gauge, I used 700x in Gold Medal hulls as well, but I no longer load 12 gauge. Friends that load 12 gauge, haven't been able to find 700x for a couple of years.

Stubble..700 x is/was one of my favs, I lucked into 5 lbs two winters ago ! Got 3.5 left. I loaded a few hundred Active hulls with it...1 1/8 oz..1250 fps...man..seems like a real nice non recoil load ! Softer than my Gun Clubs @ 1200.
Shame that all the old "favorite powders" are pretty well unobtanium now everywhere. Too bad.

My latest 20 ga powder is WSF. Came across a good deal for it. Works for 20 and heavy 12 too. But I use TG for most of my 12 target loads now.

No Load data on Hodgon's site. I've been using Hod 572 now that I've ran out of green dot. Liking it just fine
They only list 12 ga loads with tite group. I suppose I could start with a 12 ga load data and back it off a bit. I'm new to shotgun loading, the next shell that I load, will be my first.
