Ppq q5 match range reports

Impressive.

I'm too cheap to fork out for the Q5, but I was looking at a 5 inch PPQ M2 today, and it has definitely caught my attention.

I'm sure it will be just as accurate. I was going to buy a 5" PPQ, but then when I looked at the price difference between PPQ + extra mag + fiber optic sights...I thought I might as well go Q5.

Any idea if the trigger is improved, or is it just blue?

I'm still new to the shooting world, but I had my 5" M2B and Q5 out last night and did a side-by-side comparison and I could not 100% tell the difference between the two triggers. As in I'm not convinced the ever so slight difference is just my mind trying to justify the extra purchase. However when I have been cleaning both and playing with the trigger with the slide off, the Q5 does feel ever so slightly smoother. Maybe someone with more experience than me might be able to actually be able to tell the difference or confirm they are the same, just another colour.

One question I'm going to throw out there for fellow PPQ/Q5 owners that I noticed last night. This happens on both my M2B and Q5 so I know it's not a one off defect and I have noticed it on other days as well.

When I go to insert a full mag with the slide closed and I try to rack the slide it will not go back. It get stuck after about an inch and will not chamber the first round. It will rack normally with no mag or an empty mag when I'm doing dry-fire practice though. To chamber the first round I have to lock the slide open, insert the mag, then release the slide. Is this normal for the PPQ as the Glock, Jericho, and M&P do not do this, while both PPQs do.

Mags are stamped/pinned at 10 rounds not 10.25, so it is TIGHT to rack. I can rack mine but it shaves brass! I also load 1 in chamber the run a full mag of 10 in, gun cycles fine but you have to make sure the mag is fully seated.

Mine is very tight to rack on a full mag as well. I doubt it's anything more than that. I started to rack over hand because of this and I think that's probably better for speed anyhow.

I really wish manufacturers would knock that crap off. My glock isn't much better. Yes, with a full 10 round mag you can rack it, yes, but you really need to exert some force to seat the mag.

That's an interesting thought. From what I could tell it's about 4-500 bucks price difference between the 2 guns. Of course Walther mags get pricey, but I could probably live with the factory sights for a while as they didn't seem too bad.

I know at Bullseye there's a $300 gap between the two, so its $150ish for the upgraded front & rear sights, $70 for the extra mag, $80 for the blue trigger, and a free match grade barrel :p

Are they factory 10 rounders or pinned? I had some pinned ones that I could barely fit 10 into and they would not even let the slide close so I had to re-pin them to 10.5. My factory 10s are fine though.

I had the same logic.

Yeah, but I can get one at my local gun shop for about $750.

You sure about the match barrel? I haven't seen anything about the barrel being upgraded over the 5 inch M2.

I've seen it mentioned in quite a few reviews but just went over quite bit of the Walther USA and Walther Europe documents for the Q5 and no mention of it. I did check the barrel on mine and it is stamped "Q5" so I would guess the barrel is specific to that model and not just one pulled from the M2B production line though.

They are the factory 10rnd mags that came with both the Q5 and M2.

Where is the warranty for Canada? I just purchased a PPQ M2 in 45. Be good to know where warranty is located. Thx.

The gun is very accurate. The only problem is that mine broke. A piece broke off the slide lock and it will not lock open after last shot. I just sent it in for warranty. I should get it back in 8 weeks. Was going to use it in my next IPSC comp, but now I will have to wait.

It wouldn't be a stretch to think that they mark barrels destined for Q5's differently than they do the other 5 inch barrels seeing as they mark them for serial #'s etc. Maybe I'll try to contact Walther and ask.

Straight from Walther at the 2017 Shot Show, PPQ M2 5" is exactly the same as the Q5 Match minus the slide and coating (Blue) on the trigger that is anti friction and said to "maybe" break in / smooth out faster than the standard black one in the PPQ M2.

Barrels are exactly the same. Built is the same,

Rich

The Q5 has polygonal rifling, and I believe the PPQ has traditional land/groove. From what I saw from a quick google search they may have moved the PPQ to polygonal rifling as well for current gen but I'm not sure.
