Not that you would do it, but that someone would have ran in front of you.
If the RO would have ran behind me, he would have been DOWNRANGE. It doesn't matter what direction I was running, or which way my head was turned. Muzzle direction is what matters, and it must be pointed downrange. At that point, the gun was still unloaded and holstered. The stage design was one that it would be easy to break 90, or for the RO to be caught in an unsafe position, and that's why the stage plan was discussed with him beforehand. ie. he was exactly where I expected him to be, and I was exactly where he expected me to be, and it was a safe run.
