Price gouging

I didn't think I would see powder selling (?) for $100-$120 per pound. The cheap ad I came across had prices that ranged between $60 and $90 per pound depending on popularity I suppose.
:sok2

HANG ON! one year from now to-days inflated price will be a wet dream.
I hear Federal and CCI primers are headed for a double bump this year, but not to worry as the corporation has no plans to release any product.

You lost me at auctioning it off auctions literally sell for what people are willing to pay for it so how do you get price gouging with an auction ?

Exactly, one could even argue that auction is the MOST accurate indicator of value on any object. The problem here lies in the cognitive bias people have in that nobody wants to acknowledge negative change, we resist it at all costs.

So many people still in denial that the collapse has already happened and hyperinflation is hear to stay, buckle up folks the Canadian dollar is on the fast track spiral to being literally worthless.

What do you guys think of the retailer buying up stock from other retailers and then auctioning it off at ridiculous prices and making a ton of money and screwing the shooting community?
I’m finding it a little hard to stomach, In this time of need it takes a shady dude to line his pockets this way,,
I’ll never support them, this won’t last forever,,

Seems like just needless #####ing.

We live in a free market economy. Don't like the prices, don't buy.

There's a vast world of difference between need and want.

See this line of complaining all the time on social media when people advertise places for rent.....

The price will be what the market will bear.

A vendor does what has to be done to make money and live.

That's how it is.

If you don't like it, or can't afford it, don't blame it on the vendor for being up on his/her game.

This is the part that concerns me. Unlike you Bearhunter Iam still quite young and would hopefully have 50 years left of sport shooting. Things described above keep a new generation out of it, maybe that's where you dont care anymore? A friend of mine recently got into reloading, I gifted him a press and a few other things to help him out. Components are tough and expensive to find without someone in the "shooting community" buying up limited existing stock to sell at higher prices. I understand free market, but this directly hurts the firearms market and the sport as a whole when it's fate is already balanced on a needle point.

I hope you don't take this post as an attack, I enjoy your stories and wisdom you bring to the forum. Just sharing for people on the other side of it.

People are going to have to accept that anything to do with firearms has gotten to be expensive
Dealer's lines of credit purchasing power is not getting hundreds and thousands of guns anymore
The big player's from the 60's and 70's have retired or moved to America.
Canada has become an ever smaller market and Canadian Border Service's has made it a little harder to import item's
I don't know what the solution is, but, it isn't going to get better or cheaper

I'll have to check but when WSS was going out of business I managed to score 8Lb of H380 for under $200

I am fairly well stocked in most powders I use, a bit light on pistol powder but a little of that goes a long way.

I'll run out of projectiles before I run out of powder and I have enough projectiles for my main hunting rifles that there will be leftovers in my estate sale.

What a bunch of uninformed and snively Hooey.

What you really ought to be concerned about isn't the price of shooting but the politics that will take it away from you while you're only concern is ranting over cost.

Did you even read my post? Maybe you should have your eyes checked. Where would it imply I was "only worried about cost" my entire post was in concern of how this affects the shooting community, that's politics involved, the more people in this game the harder it is to cancel.
Hooey? Tell me you're an old fudd without telling me you're an old fudd

Anyone defending a retailer doing this needs to take a look in the mirror, the person you see staring back at you is the problem in this community.

That's all you mentioned.

And there's the fudd talk

And there is the type of talk that got us into the mess we are in . Keep up the good work eating our own
Fudds as you call them will be shooting their guns long after all others are gone with this constant attack and division
By the way I am a fudd now one that had 12(2)
