Production Optics Div ???

It's called open division. We don't need a flash light division. If you want lasers and flashlights you are just looking to have fun anyways (nothing wrong with that). Declare open before the next match and have at what you are thinking about doing (within a reasonable limit )

Open division and competing against race guns and gear is not appealing to me in the slightest. I just want a practical division in my practical shooting, lol. I'm not under the impression that my proposed division is any more than a pipe dream....so Production will have to do.

USPSA just held its Optics Nationals, 3 divisions: Open, Carry Optics, and PCC (pistol caliber carbine)....the two provisional divisions made up almost 50% of the shooters with almost an equal number shooting Carry Optics as PCC....a pretty good showing for two near new divisions....I would expect both Production Optics and PCC will be way more popular than either Revolver or Classic divisions once IPSC recognizes them as divisions

I'm all for Carry/Production Optics. I've shot 3 USPSA matches with guys shooting PCC and to me it seems pointless in a pistol match, can't comply with stage design for start position, strong hand, weak hand etc., topped off with shooting 10 yards targets with a rifle with a dot. Although in retrospect given that no one reloads pretty much ever in a match in PCC in the USA it might be something to watch all these guys doing multiple reloads in Canada due to mag laws.

What is the difference in shooting targets at 10 yards with a carbine with a red dot sight vs a pistol with a red dot sight? Seems to me it pretty much is a wash. The same is true with reloads. 10 rounds in both rifle and pistol assuming IPSC Canada imposes a 10 round limit. Without a limit I could see Beretta mag based carbines becoming very popular.:d

I have shot a few IPSC stages though that would be impossible to shoot with a carbine. MD's would have to bare that in mind when designing stages, if they intended to offer a PCC Division.

Give USPSA and IPSC credit in embracing the Optic sight. In time, I suspect the notch and post sight will become the equivalent of Black Powder shooting. Fun but shot by few.

Will these new divisions have minor/major power factors?

Or will it be a non-issue, like our Production division?

I cant see worth a crap anymore.
Hopefully this Production Optics Classes works out.
Till it does. I'm starting to shoot Open.

I'm ready to play :)

the optic sight window is much smaller than on an Open gun though, so coming up onto target, you pretty much have to be dead-on, or you're going to be doing a lot of dot hunting lol. Someone better start working on a hologram sights ;)

Come down and shoot at Custer, or any other USPSA match in the NW Section. There is nothing funner than using capacity magazines lol. It really is awesome.

You can also drive down the road to Chilliwack and shoot Optic Division in IDPA. I may shoot Optic on Sunday at our 1st IDPA match here in Terrace.

thanks for the invite :) Been meaning too during the winter months, but the timing just didn't work out as I ended up running practices for our club on the 1st Sunday of each month, and I think that's when you run your USPSA matches. Will definitely have to get down there for a match or two. Still have one rig setup just for USPSA - drop-in holster and no magnets lol.

Good to know that Chilliwack has IDPA. I've gone out there a couple of times to shoot the Elwin Fehr Memorial revolver match. It's a lot of fun and some really nice folks out there :)
