Proud New Owner of My first SAN Rifle, what do I need to know?

I assumed it was to prevent the mounting of something for civy sales purposes. Not like it was hard to remove. How is it for rifle grenades? Anyone have a diagram?

Don't remove it... You won't be able to fire rifle grenades anymore!

Unlike ESQ, I do not think I will remove it just because it's got a purpose and so now that I know it's OKAY

Now that being said when am I ever going to have a Swiss rifle grenade, can we even get anything like that??? Certainly not a live grenade I mean but like a flare or something?? I wouldn't think so, so unless we move to Switzerland, AND they start handing out rifle grenades like cake, then what we ever use one for?

,,,so unless we move to Switzerland, AND they start handing out rifle grenades like cake, then what we ever use one for?

One can always hope, but hot damn would they work great on zombies or those pesky dippers that keep showing up on my doorstep.

You have already shown us the nekkid pictures of the Swiss Arms, including the pubic velcro,,, so spread the plactic sheeting over the couch, lube yourself up, turn down the lights and fondle it as you practice your strip and assembly and loading drills.

Then,,, have rifle, mags and ammo, go and shoot. The week end is approaching.

I can't find a diagram, but I believe its kinda a 'gas ring' for the StgW 57 rifle grenades. Maybe Kamphamster will stop in and add his thoughts... :)

Actually, I know for SURE that it's for rifle grenades, but just don't know what role it plays..

I think it just help seal the rifle grenade around the barrel. Like a gas ring. Like the gas rings on an ar15 bolt. To stop some of the gas escaping when you fire the round that propels it.

I just picked up a Black special, nice and clean no brass scar, I plan on protecting the brass deflector, I'm just wondering if there is anything about these rifles that I don't already know that may help me out. it's a 1in10'' twist, and is basically new

also where is the cheapest place to get quality mags?
Are OEM mags the same as factory mags?
Is anyone interested in trading there green furniture for black?

Any helpful pieces of info or just cool stuff to know about the reliability and performance of the platform would be greatly appreciated, pics and stuff of groupings or anything like that...

thanks
The proud new owner of a Swiss Arms Black Special
Steve

you also need to know that i'm f*****g jealous

Anyone with a San should go to sigarms556. Com and under discussions read how to treat a new arrival. It refers to the u.s. Version but applies to the San as well very very valuable info.

I can't for the life of me find any reference or images of the rifle grenade that would go on this rifle. But I did find this nifty pic for your viewing pleasure:

Try doing that with your Norinco...:D

no doubt.

Here is a Picture of an stgw57 with a rifle grenade attached. The stgw 90 or sg550 or the classic green/black special (whatever you feel like calling it) were designed to fire the same ones but by the time it (STGW 90) was put into service the 40mm had taken over already.

I doubt the clip would be a very effective gas ring. But i suspect (given its slightly elliptical shape) that it deforms when the grenade is slid on and provides resistance, or even a detent (if an annular groove is inside the grenade shaft) to retain the grenade.

you are most likely right, i just re-inspected the ring. You probably got something with the detent

thats kinda what I thought as soon as someone mentioned the rifle grenade, but I didn't quite know how to explain it, I think you guys are right on the money there.

Theres a diagram of the rifle grenade in the manual, but it's just a sketch, it looks just like the one above!!

Just don't forget to use a blank cartridge to fire or your day will end very poorly.
Unless it uses a bullet trap or a through hole? Anyone know?
