PRS Match CDTSA Milo Range

No more spots at this time unfortunately.

As mentioned, thanks for stepping but at this time I think we have all the volunteers we need.

I didn't see anything in this thread about it, but what about spectators? Can we come out and watch?

I really hope this PRS style matches catch on. I would like to try.

What are the rules in regard to removing or adding accessories to the rifle during each stage.
For example, can the bipod be removed prior to a stage where it is not required? Same with the sling?
Can they be added as necessary or must the rifle remain as configured at the start of the match to the end of the match?

Nothing noted in the PRS rules in regard to this, should be good to go! Although, I would pay a lot of money to see you bust out the allen wrenches and remove your gear under time!

The official COF should be coming soon but here is a quick summary below.

1) 200M coldbore
2) Dot drill
3) Standing & Kneeling/Sitting shooting
4) Urban prone
5) PRS tiebreaker (#2 if I remember correctly)
6) Barricade, prone, support side shooting
7) Roof top
8) Stuff on saw horses
9) Prone stuff

If you have never got off your belly this match will be difficult. A super high-end 1/4 MOA rifle is not necessary to run this match as most targets are at least 1MOA in size. Time limits are what I think are tight but I am sure some individuals will find the COF easy. Getting your rifle ready to go will be an important skill as you don't always get to start on your gun. There is stage that is a bit more physical but nothing too hard.

I hope it is challenging enough for most.

Thanks Ryan, looks awesome! Looks like a well rounded COF cover a lot of the fundamentals! You guys will have a mover on the next one right?! ;-)

Sounds like we have a volunteer to make one?!?! =)

Should be a fun shoot. I'm still way far behind in preparing my equipment, but I'll get there.

I'd love to design all sorts of stands, targets, etc. Problem is it gets pricey quick.

We had a mover at one of our 3gun matches but the remote release mechanism proved problematic in changing wind loads on the target.

If anyone has a solution for that, please, PM me and we can see if we can integrate something like that for future matches :D

At this time you are pretty much unlimited in what you can use, add, remove, etc. from your gun during the competition - you don't even have to carry it around with you if you don't want to.

With that being said, I am going to change it for the next match. After watching some more recent PRS videos I think I will either put limits on gear or have stages where your equipment is limited to just the basis, or if you want to use it you have to carry during the stage (I like this idea the most).

I don't want the competition to turn into a "who has the most gadgets" kind of thing. The main culprit I am thinking of right now are those super long add-on bipod legs (they go down when the standard bipod is folded up). Suggestions are welcome as well.

Ryan,

Will you be putting a date to when the registration must be paid? I'm guilty for not paying yet either, but thinking this might provide a chance for those considering a bit more time to prepare.

I know of two others that I can likely muster into paying soon, but are lingering because a date isn't set. Also a potential spot opening that tkhiebs was hoping to fill.

Hopefully my latest email will answer this question.

Yup! Commonly done. Have never seen someone add an accessory during a stage, but have seen bipods and bags removed (and thrown several yards in anger. lol!) during a stage.

Also, for those that have read the match booklet, do you find the time limits to generous?

I think I would like to chop off some time on a few of the stages.

This being the first match of its kind for many of the shooters I think that the times set for the stages are reasonable. Yes, some may be a little bit generous but you need to crawl before you can run. The emphasis should be on the quality of the shooting first then the time.

Your call.
