Had a '91 KT prefix just like yours. Bought NIB for under $800 at the time...

If mine wasn't a gun, it wouldn't shoot. But seeing as it is a gun, it gets shot, and I take great pleasure in doing so. The moment I stop enjoying shooting, it is the moment I sell it. Oh, and it looks really great too, just like a safe queen...only a queen that likes to get down and dirty, and cleans up real well after.

My Python, blued with 6 inch barrel, was bought around 30-35 years ago and she's a shooter. I may be hard to believe now but when I bought her the Python was less expensive than S&W's Model 29. The Dirty Harry movies were all the rage. Just like "The Walking Dead" is the reason Pythons are so ridiculously priced now. I paid around $400US for mine and can honestly see getting $1,000 for one is prime condition, but no way are they worth the $2,500 they're asking for them now. When "The Walking Dead" ends the price will drop back to a more reasonable level, and those who bought high will be crying foul when no one pays the price they ask.

I bought my blued 6" Python around 12 years ago for $1000 in Exc condition from a guy who got it in turn from the original owner who babied it and shot it very little. I've only shot it once using +P 38 Spl. It looks immaculate. I keep telling my oldest son that it'll be his inheritance ONLY after he gets his rPAL. He's currently 13 y.o.

Hope he know what a lucky little shyte he is. When I got my PAL, dad gave me a 16ga Cooey. I was in heaven, still have it. Ain't no Python tho!

Mine is in excellent shape and does get used once or twice a year. Other than that it sits on the top shelf of my safe in a gun sock and I always worry it might fall or I might knock it into the door frame putting it away.

I paid $600 for it.:d

Got two of them. One sits in the safe and gets cleaned once a year. The other one goes to the range almost every time I go but usually only sees .38 through it unless I have a guest that wants to try the magnum loads. Its too nice a gun not to take along.

I have a 6" blued that was actually bought for me way back in the early 90's as a birthday gift from a girlfriend at the time. I was big into ISU shooting then and I couldn't afford the high end Walther etc Olympic guns so i made do with a Ruger MK I and the Python for the centre fire portion. It was used pretty well but never in a holster etc. Nowadays I rarely shoot it but i do take it out (just a week ago in fact) just to make sure I remember why i like it so much.

I have a 6" blued that I shoot at least once a month. I mostly shoot 38special though. Some 357 here and there but not much.

My logic is that it's a gun. So it's made to handle firepower. If it's well taken care of and not banged at every corner than using it will not affect its value.

I've always wanted an Anaconda so I finally bit the bullet. I have to shoot it, though. If I just wanted to look at guns, I'd google some free pics instead.

I have a blued 6 inch that I shoot at least once per month. Combination of light and moderate loads. Makes me smile every time it comes out of the safe!

Advice; Most Python owners that enjoy shooting them, mostly only use 38 Special only.
So, that kind of negates the real need for that full length under barrel lug to absorb magnum recoil energy forces.
Therefore if you can find a 6 inch barrel Colt Model 357, you are getting the exact same grip, lock mechanism, trigger and sighting arrangement as the more costly Python.

It's only at resale time that you loose some cash. And guess what? They are a very finely made and accurate Colt handgun.

I actually like to shoot my handguns. Hence I bought a Colt Model 357 and an Anaconda.

my 2 bits only

You're forgetting that to some people (like myself) the under barrel lug looks very, very cool.
