Question for you guys about elmer fudd

At the clubs that I shoot at, it doesn't matter whether you are shooting trap, rifles or handguns, you are responsible to ensure that you aren't bouncing ejected hulls/cases off of other shooters or their equipment. A shell catcher is cheap, and prevents this from becoming an issue.

My wife used to park in a staff parking lot door dings to complete bumpers ripped off no one ever fessed up to any of it. Have no doubt some would feel it perfectly acceptable to do what ever they please.

My point remain, if you are worried about a flying hull, you should be even more worried about firing that gun... Think of all that heat damaging the finish!

I got your point and it doesn't apply here.
Reading comprehension isn't your strong suite is it. I said that it doesn't matter if it's my Perazzi or old beat up goose gun, you have no right to bounce hulls off of it. In other words, it's got nothing to do with how much the gun costs, you need to take responsibility for your actions! And believe me, no one buys a Perazzi to let it gather dust in a safe, they're made to be used hard!

If you are shooting ATA or PITA trap, the rules cover this. An ejected shell cannot reach the next person's gun. You have to use a shell catcher. But, I have to ask, what is the person with the Perazzi doing when the guy to his right is shooting. He should be waiting with his back or, at least, his left side to the shooter. How is an ejected shell going to hit his gun? Maybe he is a lefty. Why is he waving his gun around when someone else is shooting? There are rules against that too. Why can't we all just calm down and enjoy ourselves?

1) So here i am on facebook, just chatting away about shooting my a400 at the trap club, when this fella decides to go after me for using a semi-auto instead of an over under. he precedes to tell me that he spent $12,000 on a Perazzi and hates us guys with auto ejectors and semi-autos because the ejected shells could scratch his fancy shotgun. its always the 60+ years old crew that seems to do it.

The answer to your first part is easy, install a shell catcher problem solved. I started trap using a pump then moved to a semi and bought a shell catcher at the same time and now using a Over Under. I don't care what the shooter next to me is shooting, the shooter is supporting the club and this keeps us open.

Not sure on your 60+ comment.... Each week when I shoot a group of us always seem to be the ones who reload the trap machines and we are the 60+ group and the younger ones sit in their chairs like they are on a guided fishing trip...."its always the 60+ years old crew that seems to do it." you mean do all the work?

I have shot PITA for a few years and have read their rules the only rule I could find about a semi is in the PITA 2019-2020 rule book … GUNS AND LOADS pg 15 & 16, A contestant shall not use: (e) Semi-automatic shotguns that throw ejected shells more than 8 feet.

Nicer grain wood is found on a 80s station wagon then most Perazzi shotguns the hype in reality is about price and is just other people’s stories passed along.

The cost of everything, without knowing the value of anything.

If someones shell is hitting me I just don't stand where the shell is ejecting to. It never occurred to me that this was a complex problem for some people.

When shooting trap, you stand on your station until you have completed shooting that station, so you are ready to shoot, when it is your turn.

The Europeans put less emphasis on wood than most North American shooters so traditionally they don't put fancy wood on them unless it's requested.

And with the price of their wood upgrades, you have to really want it. Pretty much every new gun you see for sale has been upgraded to SC2 because the base wood is really plain.

Lol so if you were looking to root out some FUDDs in this thread... Mission accomplished Laugh2

So a Fudd is anyone who doesn't like getting hit by shells from a semi auto on the trap line?

The thing that makes me laugh is that all you young guys brag about beating some Fudd with his fancy "insert expensive shotgun make here" gun. While this is nothing new and I've seen it happen lots of times, what none of you seem to realize is that you aren't the first ones to do this, we were you 30 or 40 years ago! Back then we were the ones beating the old guys with their fancy guns on the trap line with our duck guns. We had young eyes that automatically latched onto a hard focus on the front of the target, we all had lighting quick reflexes and hardly let the bird out of the house before nailing it. And even though we might have been a bit cocky like you, we all learned shooting etiquette such as not hitting fellow shooters with your hulls! We worked hard and shot cheap shotguns until we got ahead financially after putting our kids (like you) through university and college. We struggled to make their lives good just like your parents have. And we shot cheap guns because all of our resources went into keeping a family fed and sheltered. Finally, when we got all of that behind us, we decided it was time to spend some money on ourselves and got a nice gun to shoot. We've all been where you guys are but we've moved on, and you all will too. Most of you could have a fancy gun now if you wanted to, they don't cost anymore than the crotch rockets and snowmobiles or quads that you guys ride, its just a different priority that's all. If you young guys decide to stick with shooting, and many of you wont be able to afford it, you will eventually end up like us with a burning desire to shoot but with failing eyes and slow reflexes. If you are financially capable, you might go out and buy yourself a fancy gun and get whipped by my grand son or even my granddaughter, it's the cycle of life!
Good luck to all of you and I hope you all stay in the shooting sports because us Fudds have been carrying the torch for you and now it's your turn. The shooting sports are an endangered species and we need you to carry on!
