OK, this topic is going downhill fast.
Just wanted to jump in and say that I joined BRRC back in December. The 6 observation nights were enjoyable and a great way to meet some of the directors and experience something new. In most cases I was in and out in maybe an hour. Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. You get them done, then that's it, it's ancient history and you never have to think about it again as long as you keep your membership current. They give you so much time to get them done, that honestly, I find it hard to believe that people can't find the time/rework their schedules taking into account holidays, vacation days, sick days, etc. Not to mention, if you have a difficult time getting to the observation nights, then it shouldn't be a big deal that you can't shoot on your own those nights, since you obviously aren't free weeknights.
At first I thought the reserved league nights would be a hassle, but I go on Saturday and Sunday between late morning and late afternoon and the range is never full. As others have pointed out, most discipline nights are finished rather early, so you can probably shoot as early at 9:30 or 10pm on some week nights.
The vast majority of members and directors I've met and spoken to are very polite, friendly and approachable. If director's act serious during the safety course or about safety, it's for a good reason, because it's a serious topic. I was once shooting at the range on a Sunday when new members were shooting their exams, and I saw one guy who had to be escorted out because he reeked of alcohol and was showing signs of still being under the influence!
You get all kinds of idiots showing up to join and the safety instructors/directors are donating their own free time. You don't know what's going on in their lives that week that might have put them in a bad mood. Bottom line though is not everyone can be all smiles all the time and you shouldn't judge an entire club because one guy was short with someone. It's also not easy to get volunteers to donate their time, so sometimes you have to take what you get. If it was a for profit range, charging a lot more and paying their instructors, then you can expect more. But as a non-profit club, it's the members that make it what it is, and so rather than making a mountain out of a molehill, lead by example and let sleeping dogs lie. You're a club member, not a customer. If you're talking to directors and other members as though you're a customer, then maybe that's your problem? Nobody owes you anything and if you act like you own the place, I can see people reacting negatively to that.
Myself, I'm glad for the tedious probationary procedures. It means that any full club member has no damn excuse for not understanding and following all the safety rules which are there to protect me. I could only imagine how bad things would be if they just let anyone walk in and shoot with only a weekend of exposure to the rules and regulations. Remember, there are no full-time safety officers on site 24/7. People can shoot by themselves any time day or night, so it's REALLY important that everyone understands the safety rules/procedures, because there might be no one there next time to point out when you're doing something unsafe. The best way for people to learn is through exposure. Simply learning it in a one or two day course isn't enough.

WOW look at all this yapping going on. Now everyone has a point here about BRRC I am in my first year as a member. I have seen some of the directors be very rude to me and others during the safety course and on observation nights yes it is not called for. As for ATT's the CFO has told me during a phone call wondering where my ATT is that the process should only take 7-8 days So why have I and others been waiting more than 6 weeks now and during my observations I spoke with other members and they told me it took that long and longer. Also I know for fact that the local gun shop has complained to the BOD of BRRC and the CFO about Tony not doing his job So whats up with that

7 weeks and counting since I left a voice message for Tony requesting my ATT as per instructions from Jeff's membership letter. 9 weeks since the safety course when they first asked if I needed an ATT. 4 weeks since I sent Tony an email inquiring as to whether he even received my application because I called the CFO May 5th and they hadn't yet received it. I got a voice mail from Tony last week saying he didn't even get my application until May 7th?!? Time warp? Do I get a credit for the 2 plus months I haven't been able to use the range?

Hey euxx why do you think there is so much anger or disapointment with BRRC robertf and I have paid a yearly fee jumped all the hoops and still can't enjoy the club we paid to use. I am hopeing to shoot at least a clip before they shut down for a two month reno probley 3-4 month if u know anything about construction deadlines

How do I know why? Maybe stars didn't align properly or something. Tony has his own life, vacation, business travel, etc and he is handling the ATTs at his own time and he is not being paid for that work. No one will know if there is other issues with those ATTs, but if there are, I won't be surprised about any delays.
If I were you, I'd contact the cub secretary, e.g. call him explain the situation and what should you do. Also, write a letter to the board of directors (didn't they mentioned it to you at the safety course that communication should be in writing?) and request the explanation of the delay. If BoD get complains they surely will make sure that there is a backup if Tony is not available. I am sure skeet will bring it up at the next meeting too.
I know it is a pain, but in this case the patience is the only think that will help.
not to beat a dead horse more but yes it is somewhat of a paid role in the club free membership and yes we have tried to bring this up and others have before hence the gun shop making a formal complaint against tony but any how life is a ##### BRRC should and know they should change but look on the bright side they are all old they will not be around too much longer heaven forbid
