The most interesting thing about the LOI is what is not included in the pistol specs.

No requirement for grip modules with removable fire control group (Sig P320). Must have learned from the CF RFP debacle.

No requirement that disassembly/ take down not include pulling the trigger. This means Glock is in the game.

Here are some of the clauses that may interfere with procurement:

From the LOI, questions for Industry to be answered in the vendor's reply to Canada

6. The RCMP provides federal, provincial, territorial and municipal policing services to Canadians,
including policing services in over 600 Indigenous Communities across the Country.

• Does your company currently participate in any existing initiatives that help bring
economic benefits or positive societal impacts to Indigenous communities in Canada?

• Can your company propose any ideas of how this contract could be leveraged to
support socio-economic objectives in Indigenous communities?

7. Please identify how your company promotes diversity and inclusion in its organization. This
might include things like internal staffing or recruitment strategies to increase representation of
underrepresented groups in the workforce, the development of specific policies and training, etc.

• Could your company provide any recommendations of how it could diversify its supply
chain (e.g. by targeting underrepresented and minority groups such as women,
Indigenous, racialized minorities, persons with disabilities, lesbian, ###, bisexual and
transgender) in support of this contract?

Glock 19 is probably the easiest choice.
M&P9 Compact fits the parameters if they stick with S&W.
Doesn't matter much what they have for a side arm, they can't hit anything anyway lol.

That said, I looked at the improved S&W M&P and with the improved "flatish" trigger, it's an awesome gun. Hate to admit it but had a close look and shoot at SHOT this year.

".... 1. RCMP BACKGROUND
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) provides federal, provincial, territorial and municipal
policing services to Canadians across 10 provinces, 3 territories, 150 municipalities, including Federal
Police Services and Specialized Police Services in support of hundreds of other police and public safety
agencies across Canada.

The current service pistol in use by the RCMP and has exceeded its life expectancy. The RCMP is
beginning the procurement process for a new and modern service pistol. There is a need to obtain a
service pistol that offers a reduced trigger pull weight, various frame sizes and a reduction in overall
weight. In enhancing public and officer safety the RCMP has also identified the need for a pistol
mounted flashlight and a Red Dot Sight (RDS). These additional items will improve officers shooting
accuracy, officer’s threat response time and allow for the officers to be threat focussed. ....."
