Real CGN-wildcat-thread-soon-to-be-forum

I started a new hobby today....swearing at canada post for trying to use dogsleds in the summer :x , good dam thing the military dosnt use them to suply troops with gear

" hold on please dont shoot untill after 11am when I can check the mail   "........maybe we can have a war next week, canada post is slow this week :|

When was it mailed? I found out mine from the same source wasn't mailed till today.
And if you think you are getting antzy I am waiting on 4 .Two from the east 1 from the far west and 1 from the north.

Just rechambered my 7-08AI to 284 , and then promptly traded it off.....so here I am without a wildcat...so I've got a 25 cal barrel and a 25/284 reamer on the way. I have a short 700 here without a barrel and a new take-off Ti stock. Gotta love the way the parts pile up  .

Well, im a lil late, but to answer the question about the .338 Lapua Improved.
yes, it is a big case.
I havent had time to play around to much, with diff powders but so far, BMG 50 has proven to be the best, accuracy wise, but not speed wise.
I want to try retumbo, next.H1000 was no good at all in this case, to fast.
Anyways, its built on a rem 721 long action, bolf face opened up, sako extrator,RKS 33"1 1/8" bull stainless BBL.ultmate sniper stock, versapod, burris black dieomond MD 4-12
With a 300GR sierra BTHP match, and BMG 50 powder, my most acurate load is running out over the crony at 2840.There is plenty of room for speed improvment as the case is showing no preasure signs yet.
With that load, i can stay on a 45gal barrel at 1000meters all day.
I have also shot it at a measured mile, and, to be a reall hillbilly here, i could hit the 49 ford car in the fence corner about 75% of the time.
This winter when time alows, im going to play with retumbo, see if i cant get some more speed and accuracey at the same time.
This thread has sure been interesting reading, i must say, and i think Rich, Garnet, and a couple others have found a new home....its the first thread i open up, to see whats new on, now.

dam and I was #####ing about 7" groups @ 1000  , just hacking on yea Beater..But I was #####ing about the 7" groups @ 1000 .

anyhow I guess I have been chosen to come up with some oddball we can all pick apart and then someone else can do it.... I will avoid the 338 lapua as it and the 338 rum are as close as a 308 norma mag and a 300 win ....in my observations in my little square reloading room  .

I think we will start with a 460WBY case 2.913" and neck it down to a 6.5 dia bullet .

how fast would it go? f#$king fast
how much powder? to much F@#king powder , but who cares its my idea and I get to name it :!:

I done the 460-6.5 basterdized cartridge the 6.5 VENGENCE

:D

378-460 case necked to 6.5 Hmm .I vote we shorten it a little. the 6.5 284 is supposed to be super accurate because of the short fat powder colum. To shorten the 6.5 -460 Would give the same idea but the power of a 6.5WWH or better .I know you were looking for just plain speed and power but my way I think we could have it all. Now how much to shorten it?
Rich

I have no idea  , wasnt my idea to dream up wildcats I just got a PM that said DO IT   , to shorten and keep case capacity to a max level I would think 1 could bring the case down from 2.913 to about 2.225 or 2.125 maybe and neck it down

Yes, that 22-303 the long neck one, is a idea of the master BBL maker Ron Smith hisself.
He has chambered a martini in that, and he has done a #4 for myself.
Im very impressed with it so far, except for making the brass
It basically duplicates the 220 swift, without the bad throat errosion problem.
Seat the bullets deep, and the brass takes the erosion, not the throat.
Also, with it being long like that, with a small bit of tweeking ive got it to feed out of the #4 fairly reliably.
As for acuracy, the #4 is stock, right down to full wood, and peep.
I threaded the battle site, and used a Lyman apature with a smaller hole.
it will shoot better than i can, at 100.i can make an inch, so far, for the best group.
As for the 338 lapua, yes, i dont know if i would use that cartridge again,Bonecolletor, but when i built it, there was no 338 RUM.
that would be my choise now, actually.
I am gathering stuff up again, for another project,,,anyone know where a fellow might lay his hands on a Hispano 20MM BBL ?
or any other 20 MM BBL, for that matter.
Brian

Hmmmmmmm,,,,,,,,,got me thinkin now,,i do have a bunch of navy 3x70".
wonder what we could neck them down to.......
Oh yea,,,,reach BC,,,or SK,,,,,to

Dumb question!

Anyone necking down a rimfire (no not mulletcock  )?

I read in Wildcat Cartidges Combo of a fella by the name of Jones who was necking down the .22 LR to .14. Called it .14 Jones Rimfire. He also had a .14 jones centrefire I believe on the fireball case.

That's probably true but interesting just the same. That's what is great about this. Possibilities are endless. I would nver dream of ####ing with a Rimjob either but fun to talk about. (no pun intended  )
