Really? The end of cheap SKS's?

Can I please see where it was listed? This is hoax !!! If it is that cheap and if someone can export them right now I will pay you extra 300 % on that price. I am happy that so many people know so much on how business done in Ukraine or Russia !!!
Can you please email me link or website where it was posted or put it here as I just called Ukraine and they have never heard of this.[/QUOTE]

Lol
"yes, 'allo?"
"Hello, is Ukraine there, please?"
"Um, no, but Kazakhstan is here, would you like to speak to them?"

This thread is getting crazier by the minute! I love it.

If this is true, and the 200,000 rifles were divided up between say, 12 stores in Canada, that's over 16,000 rifles per store. Maybe the $4 per rifle is a true story !

I have it on GOOD AUTHORITY that 200,000 SKS were just purchased by CABALAS for their new store opening in late summer in north NANAIMO on Vancouver island.
The first 50,000 pal holders to visit the store will get an SKS free max. 10 per pal. holder(On the honor system) .
Whats left will be sold for $99 each with a purchase of a crate of Russian surplus ammo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

of course, this could just be a rumor!!!

We are all just having tongue in cheek fun as most of us see prices of Mosin, SKS and SVT-40 at their lowest in 3 years, a sale at TSE this weekend, SKS for $149, I got 2 Mosins delivered taxes in for $241.90, SVT-40 2 months ago for $200! So there may be a shortage coming, but it ain't here yet! Plus, if there is a shortage coming, why are most of the red rifle dealers selling so cheap,, they will run out sooner and not have any restock! However just in case there is truth to the rumors,, buy them cheap and rack them deep!! ;0)
One last thing, to all the dealers who are still selling at reasonable, uninflated prices,, THANKYOU!

Do you guys think that all that stuff that's happening in the east is going to cause a shortage in surplus ammo for the SKS and the M91/30?

Russia/Ukraine are not the only countries that produced ammo for those rifles. Czech, Chinese, Bulgarian, Romanian rounds are all plentiful and available to purchase in Canada.

Oh ok. I was wondering because I noticed that Le Baron doesn't have any 7.62x54r surplus ammo for sale anymore and I need some. I was wondering if I should start to stock up before they make it $2 a shot like all the other types of ammo

It's been said elsewhere on this site that there will be no more ammo from China either... Shipping company won't ship it anymore, but that still leaves some of those other countries (do any of those make new production 7.62x39?). A number of Internet articles are expecting a 7.62x39 shortage; hopefully that's not the case.

Surplus ammo in Canada is fine, I think. Be mindful of "ammo shortage" articles coming from the US, where the rules are way different. Most surplus 7.62x39, and more recently, 5.45x39, is banned from import to the US because of the steel core issue, which BATF considers "armor penetrating pistol ammo" because, well, Americans will make pistols that shoot anything. (And yes, there are AK-47 pistols and AK-74 pistols around).

The 5.45x39 ban is fairly new down there, really just rumours of importers getting denied import permits and supply drying up. Good news for us, because Canada is the next best/most profitable dumping ground for east block surplus. Now we just need a cheap surplus rifle that isn't prohib chambered in 5.45x39

Ah yes!! a lot of 5.45x39 to feed our.. AK-74s? That would an instant wet dream :D Unfortunatly only a dream.. Thanks lieberals V:I:

But seriously I would love to see that ammo in Canada. We would just need some uppers for AR-15 in 5.45 or Norinco rifles chambered for that caliber.

I'd take a CZ-527 carbine in 5.45 and a couple crates of surplus ammo as my designated coyote/gopher gun in a New York second, credit card damage be d@mned.

Anybody heard more about our upcoming bolt action AK? (Yes THAT one. Rumour had it out for classification last?). IIRC there was some talk of it being chambered in 5.45...could be a viable option if bulk surplus starts to appear en masse. Especially if the 20 or 30 round magazines get the go ahead...
