Saw 2 crates of SKS at one of the local shops here yesterday. Didn't bother looking at the prices since I have no use for a SKS, but they're certainly still around.
Where can I find more? If people know where to find cheap Sks overseas please email me master@westrifle.com
If you can give me phone number or email of a person that sells them I would appreciate it. Also I can pay you a commission !
Did you really just tell the main importer of the SKSs in Canada to do their own leg work?Do your own leg work. What I was saying is there are lots on store shelves here in Canada. I haven't seen any panic buying. There are plenty over seas. Don't try and start a panic so westrifle can sell overpriced SKS's. canadian tire and wholesales
Sports sells them for about $175. I bought one from whole sale sports in lethbridge for $179.

Those companies that are selling those SKSs got them from somewhere, and let me tell you... it wasnt directly from overseas themselves.
I dont think anyone ever denied there were plenty overseas... its the part of getting them here now and at the same price we've seen them for.
Regardless of if you agree or disagree with the "possible" upcoming shortage is personal opinion. I choose to believe the guys that deal with the importation, considering it is their business. Sure, it could all be a big hub-bub to up their prices and rake in more $. But the SKS seems to be a big seller despite the worry about shortages and price jumps, so I cant see them being that desperate to stoop to that level.
I dont forsee the SKS dropping in price from the $200 mark, so I could really care less if I pick some more up now at that price point; easy to make my money back if I so choose to.
I only wish I had been in firearm world during the Enfields and Garands being cheap.
Yea that would have been nice! If the garands and enfields were around now at say $800-$1000, not near as many people would be willing to put out that kind of money,, there would be a limit to how many! Same with the SKS, the market/ buyers have been buying for a good many years now so if the price goes up ( depending on how much) a lot less people will buy in! At the price they are now, I may buy a couple more, however if they go up ,I personally am out. With my budget or lack thereof, I will be concentrating on ammo for the ones I already own, that is really important because you only buy the gun once, but you have to keep buying ammo, even if it goes up in price (or stop shooting your gun, which is why most folks buy sks, to shoot them). I am a buyer of Ammo now and rifles when they go on sale!
You don't have to pay $200 just hit canadian tire or whole sale sports. They buy in bulk to give you the price of $175.
That is exactly right. If the price of SKS's goes up I will pay tops $280. If more than $300 I will step up to something better like a svt-40 or a keltec the SKS is meant for the beginner shooter when he gets his gun permit and wants a fun cheap rifle to shoot.
I don't get it. I can go into almost any gun store and buy a SKS. I can go online and buy a SKS or crate if SKS's. there is lots. Canada will put trade sanctions on Russia but we can still get SKS from Eastern Europe and china. If there is a shortage of SKS. China will ramp up production. But it seems that they shutdown production in the 90's. so no need to panic no army wants to use the SKS in combat plenty to go around. I remember I the 90's the SKS lost its cool factor and everybody said they were junk. Just in the last 5 years peoe think they are cool again. I personally never liked them until about 2 years ago.
By reading some of the later posts in this thread, it looks like some of you are starting to get it. Surplus firearms and ammo comes and goes in Canada like the wind. These so called expert importers/dealers at this point in time of the so called SKS crisis are using smoke and mirrors marketing to increase their margins, that's the bottom line.
