Dot's are usually too big for any rifle. A 3 MOA dot will completely cover the black of a standard sight in target at 100 yards. Makes accurate shot placement impossible.
Think Ghost Sights. Williams sells 'em. Really just a big ring peep, but easier to see through.
Blasphemy! Burn the witch!
But it'll probably work really well. Hell, even hairy-chested Zimbabwean PH Ivan Carter has a red dot on his 600 NE.
Holy hell- he sure does! http://ispot.tv/a/7qqI
OP- I bought a Win94 specifically to mount a Burris Fastfire on it for VI hunting in the soaking wet broom. Ignore the high priests of the Church of Leveraction!
I went with a FX 2.5x scout mounted with QD rings. I like it a lot.

Nothing wrong with that chuck.... take it to your range and do some "snap shooting" at 50 yards.... then pat yourself on the back for a job well done.... I did this with my ruger scout and the results were boss....
I mounted the Buckmark to my 336Y. I think it's a pretty good match. Hopefully I'll be able to sight it in this weekend.
