rem 870 ?

If you use the search function and look up the Rem 870, you'll see an awful lot of great feedback. My carry every day bush gun has been an 870 Sportsman, which is the 80's equivalent of an Express. Gone through a lot of rough use over the past 3 summers with very bad maintenance on my part...but never ever failed to perform, ever.

What I would recommend is getting an older 870 here on the EE...might take a little more ground work, but you'll probably find a better gun for cheaper. Really hate to say it, but a few too many trustworthy folk have been very unhappy with the workmanship of new remingtons...hold old and new together, and they simply don't compare (finish, fitting, attachments...even heard some complaints about alignment and the sights having fallen off when first opening the box...)

Your advice is great up until that part. I don't know what you mean by the new 870's not being good enough. But I got one brand new in the box "870 super magnum in synthetic and it is a real beautiful gun. Never once has it given me a problem, it is by far the most beautiful looking shotgun in the safe AND there is no flaw of any such on it.

I have shot both the wingmaster and express. And I really couldn't tell a difference other then the wingmaster is a little more pretty as a gentlemans gun.

If you want a kick ass, dependable shotgun. Get yourself an Express. I am very pleased with mine. And once you rack it over a bunch of times shooting it, it just get's better and better and better.

Oh, and the Express line is parkerized so you can bring this into the woods unlike a wingmaster which is blued, and you wouldn't want to scratch that pretty wood now would ya ;)

I have also been hearing much talk on the Norinco 870. It is a Rem 870 knock off made in China. And to be honest, yes they are cheaper. But would you really want something made in China?

Get a Rem 870. You won't be dissapointed that you did ;)

Your advice is great up until that part. The Express in not parkerized.

The Wingmaster is blued. The Police (P) is parkerized. (This is what "P" means.)

The Express is matte blued.

Amen. The 870P is the cats ass of shotguns. I was in love my with my 590A1 untill I bought a factory 14'' 870P on a whim. I sold the mossberg and have yet to look back.
