Rem Mod 700 Mountain SS

I'm just enjoying watching you two throw insults back and forth.

If you don't like people watching, then don't fight in a public forum.

I have a 30-06 in a Mtn LSS.
And a 280 in a Mtn rifle wood and blued with the hinged floor plate.
And a 280 in a Mtn rifle wood and blued with the DM.

So I was wondering what people had to say regarding the Mountain Rifles.

Turns out not much intelligent, so I'm just enjoying the fight.

Me and Andrew arent fighting. We're joking about another fellow from here that was arguing with us.

These 2012 Remingtons were discussed long before the Shot Show too, just so you know.

Good to see Remington trying once again, instead of making triangular barrels :D

Arguing with us? He stopped talking to me cause cause I was using big words. And that is nonsense.

Funny thing is the two of you are from the same part of the world. Must be something in the water or radiation or something.

Can I have some intranet popped corn too?

Got it. Left-overs from the Kimber thread.

As for the new Remington Mountain Rifle, is Remington really trying again, or do they just want to use up some of the stocks left over from the Titanium rifles?

They already have the LSS barrelled action, then they just throw on the surplus stocks from the Titanium line-up, and then charge about $1000 for them. Not a bad bit of business sense, but not much engineering effort either.

That said... I can see me getting one. I'm not sure if I'd like it in .270, .280, or .30-06

See Archie - this guy knows. You need two .280s to equal one .30-06

Yes, and thankfully they have replaced the old style triggers too!

This seems like it is more than likely true on Rem's behalf, regardless its a nice change o' remington pace.

troll :D

I miss my old CDL SF 30-06 :(

They aren't leftover stocks, as the Alaskan Ti had magnum contour fluted barrels, and the channel would be much larger than the LSS tube...

Here is the thread I mentioned earlier:

Out of a total of 78 new Remingtons, 19 had issues from the factory. That is over 24%, or roughly 1 out of every 4 new Remingtons had an issue. That isn't very confidence inspiring to me.

Out of 61 Tikkas only 4 had an issue. That is fewer than 1 in 15

For Savage it was about 1 in 7 with an issue - not great either, but you are still just about twice as likely to have a problem with a Remington.

I like the lines of the Mountain Rifle - and have owned one in the distant past - but I feel there are better choices out there, especially when cost is factored in. YMMV

I had one about 8 years ago in 260 rem that I sold to a good friend that had shoulder problems, that was easily the most accurate rifle I had ever owned(hunting rifle) until I picked up my current PBGR a Tikka T3 Hunter in 6.5x55.

The recent production Remington's I've handled haven't made me buy one, but if you get a good MR, they are great. Today I would buy a Tikka and be done with it.

Personally, I like the looks of it. But for the price I can buy a SS BDL off of the EE and order a McMillan.
I wish new rifles smelled like new trucks. I'd likely buy more of them.....

Agree^^^^^ 1 in 4 is a bad odds but if you get one of the good Remington’s it will last you a life time, savage has lots of nice options and nice guns out there but the plastic is not convincing either, plastic hardware, plastic detachable magazines, plastic floor plate everything is plastic, it just wont last more then 4 - 5 years with respect. Just my own opinion. i own a mountain DM 30-06 stainless, scary accuracy real nice gun!! Not to mention Remington has one of the best customer service plans and warranty guaranties

1899, which price is that?

Reason i ask is i can see the price of Can T3 and Aus T3 $

think a t3 here is about $1100-1200 for s/s
