So i recently purchased a used Remmy 1100 semi auto 12g and it has the 30" full chok barrel. I was wondering where a good place to look for choke-able barrels are? And by choke-able i mean able to install different chokes. Ive only seen bass pro and other USA online stores are these hard to come by?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

Unless you find a used barrel, if you find a new one it's likely almost going to be what the gun is worth. I was in the same boat and decided to just have the full choke opened up for far, far less and called it a day. You could likely have chokes installed in your barrel if push comes to shove but it won't be cheap.

I may go that route. I see youre a fellow Winterpegger! Is there anywhere in the city youd recommend for cutting the barrel down to like 26" and installing remchoke threads? Only one ive seen so far is tactical ordnance's website but theyre in Ontario.

I don't know of anyone around these parts doing that.

It is the 3" magnum barrel.

On a 3" mag receiver then so it will only cycle 3" shells right now, The receiver is stamped 3" mag correct
If so and you want to shoot anything 2 3/4 you need to pick up the right barrel and you are wasting money altering yours for choke tubes unless you have it reported also but then it is a 2 3/4" barrel only
They were ported different to cycle right between 2 3/4 and 3 " in the early ones pre 87

In my experience it will be cheaper to buy a barrel from BassPro.
I am not advocating you buy from BP as they are not a site sponsor, but by the time you find someone to cut your barrel to desired length and measure the wall thickness and then cut threads for some choke tubes you are going to be in balls deep territory.
Someone (couple guys) has asked what your intentions are on the use of this gun.
Feather fowl, the clay pigeon game or Winterpeg Mosquito Defense?
Also, another question is why do you feel in necessary to be cut to 26 inches?
Search the EE and by that I mean go to the shotgun forum and the sub forum for shotgun parts and type in Rem 1100 and see what comes up.
Reliable in Vancouver, Elwood Epps in Ontario and a whole list of other site sponsors will be glad to answer your questions and sell you a good used barrel or a New one for less money than what your going to spend customizing your current 30 inch full choke.
But, the first question any store worth their name will be asking what are your intentions for this firearm.
Best Regards,
Rob

I have a 1970's 1100 magnum that came with a non-ribbed barrel that wasn't too good for waterfowl. I had a remington distributor bring in a new barrel, but after taxes it came out just over $400 and despite what it says on their website, can only handle 2 3/4 shells. Mine is 30" but they also make a 28" and 26". Unless the shotgun has some sentimental value you're just wasting money on a new barrel.

I watched the EE for a couple months and was able to get a ribbed barrel with a fixed choke for under $150. I had Casey at TacOrd thread it for tru chokes which was $90 plus the cost of the chokes. 1100's go on the EE constantly for $400-800. You may be better off selling yours and trying to buy one with a rem choke barrel.

A old 1100 is not worth sending a barrel to Briley to get choked tubes if it is a 12ga or 20ga. Others yes because they cannot be done in canada
Way cheaper to get the work done in canada
Cheers

I had my smith open the full choke on my 1100 Magnum to light modified (skeet2) It is deadly with 3" Magnum #4 steel shot. It cost about 100.00 with some shipping to have the work done. In my old age I am preferring fixed chokes that pattern well over screw ins. I do have some screw in barrels on my other guns I just prefer the simplicity of fixed chokes. However most of my fixed chokes have been tweaked to provide the performance I want.

I have a fair amount of shotguns also and ones I could buy extra barrels for like the 1100 I did over the years. Ones I could not have bought reasonable all had tubes fitted 99% by briley US. None of mine were just reamed out
To each their own on this one
Cheers

Wow thanks for the wealth of information. I honestly never knew this would be this expensive as im not experienced with ever going to a gunsmith and their costs. I was just going to be using the gun for some clay shooting and maybe waterfowl down the road depending how it shoots. I will stick to what i have for now and make due.

Than you very very much again for all the help and knowledge, very appreciated!

It is now set up for 3" only to shoot clays with 2 3/4 you need another barrel or have the ports on yours modified
If waterfowl hunting you cannot shoot 3" steel out of that full choke either. It needs to be modified
Honestly the gun is useless with that barrel as it sits
