I have an 'old' 597 that reliably shoots... so long as a cartridge gets into the chamber. It came with the stock metal 10rd magazine as well as a plastic ?ProMag 20?

The extractor has been upgraded along with the hammer and spring. The issue of magazine feeding remains. The stock magazine was improved quite a bit with an aftermarket spring that had more pressure. I wouldn't say it's solved, but it's not going in the garbage. Has anyone found other alternatives than the ProMag? It's terrible! I am inclined to throw the ProMag out, it's so bad. Since Remarms isn't making the 597 anymore I wonder if anyone has had luck adapting another magazine to the 597 since almost all of my problems are actually inside the magazines.

I have a 597 and was not able to get any of the 10 round mags. So I have 3 Promags and an original hi cap Remington mags. I have no issues with any of them. I’d love to get my hands on a couple 10 rounders but no luck to date. Mine is the VTR model.

I have factory tens and they work fine

I owned two pro mags, absolutely garbage, one would only load like a dozen rounds. Promag doesn’t understand geometry, just slap a spring in a box and send it.

The factory Remington plastic high cap mags are getting tough to find
