Remington 700P LTR vs Tikka T3 Tactical

Which one is the better overall rifle?

I can confirm that the LTR comes with 40x trigger. With this in consideration, which one has better trigger? LTR or T3 tactical, or T3 CTR?
Also which one has the best barrel among the three?

The Tikka triggers are great. But triggers have a lot to do with personal preference.

Mine and my girlfriends Tikka Sporters shoot really well. I don't think you could get much better from a factory gun.

Barrels? Tikka, no question. They're made by Sako.

I'm not sure you'd find the most diehard Big Green fan would argue that.

Hammer forged rifling, tolerances, QC, etc etc.

T3 Tac and T3 CTR have the same trigger, in fact all the Tikkas do unless it's the optional set trigger version.

I can get T3 tactical 308 with 20" barrel for $1600, and T# CTR 308 with 20" barrel for $1000. Anyone know for fact what T3 Tactical has that CTR does not have to justify the $600 more? Remington LTR is $1400.

T3 Tactical is 0.6 lbs heavier than Remington 700 LTR. If I change the T3 Tactical's chasis to MDT or something similar, will that help to shave off some of the weight? If it will, by how much roughly? Any chasis recommendation that can fit T3 TAC?

The tikka tac has a fancy phosphate finish. That will add to the price a bit.

As far as chassis' go I think they will all add weight. I have my eye on a KRG W3 or maybe their cheaper X-ray chassis.

I have owned and shot both and many many rounds.
If looking for accuracy out of the box edge to tikka. But not a a lot.
The tikka seemed a bit more forgiving with load development.

But varget and 175s seemed to be the pills for both in my experience.

I also had good lunch with blc2 in the tikka

I have an older LTR. I don't think it had a 40x. there was something wrong with it internally I had two gun smiths look at both said it was junk so I replaced it with a timmy. I have used it for everything hunting to fclass. When the barrel was done ATRS rebarreled it with similar couture with out the flutes and add bottom metal. Is the remmy the best no. Its befinetly not a Sako, AI, or PGW but it is my rifle and it fits me. Soooo after all the work do I still have a remmy no not really do I have some money invested in it sure but it sure has been one H.E double hockey sticks of a fun rifle and I see many more good times a head.

Great question. It's a mystery to me and everyone in the gun industry that I've asked. The CTR is such a screaming value it's insane.

The CTR has a phosphate finish just like the Tac, and comes with, er, metal bottom metal and a metal 10 rd mag. CTR all the way over the Tac.

If you want to slap it in a chassis you should have no trouble selling the take off metal on the EE.

If weight is an issue, you shouldn't be looking at the Tiktac.

CTR is a Matte finish, not phosphate. Still excellent value

Maybe just a touch front heavy, but not so much. I don't really notice it being an issue....

It's a matte blue, almost black it's so dark. Don't know if this pic shows well enough...

without knowing the weight of the factory stock it is hard to tell, The MDT LSS may be lighter but the TAC21 will be heavier.

If someone would bring in a CTR with the set trigger I would probably get one and put it in a LSS chassis after having a shorter and lighter profile fluted barrel put on it
