Remington 7600 tips/advice

I’m sure the Mcarbo spring works great but I’ve just clipped the factory coil down till it’s got the weight I wanted. I want to say just over one coil but just go slow. I also added an over travel screw by drilling and tapping the trigger guard and running a set screw in. Worked awesome but of course alters things slightly. Done properly you really don’t even notice it other then having a trigger that rivals many bolt guns.

Here is a Redneck repair to the metal dust cover rattle problem. When hunting with my Father’s old 760 I could not get a plastic dust cover to fit, so I re-installed the metal one and applied a gob of gun grease to the track it slides in, problem solved. Not the best idea for hunting in very cold weather as it may freeze-up, but it worked during the ON November deer hunt. WK

The biggest problem with these mags is the retainer tabs on the ends get worn down and the mag does not stay in the proper position. I have taken these mags into work and had the welders tig weld a small bead there to build it up. I filed to finish and it worked fine.

The rifle arrived today but I am up north in BC. Hopefully the Post Office will hold it till I get home.

The Mambamag arrived before I left for work as did a 500 round case of ball from Marstar.

Last piee once I test the rifle for function will be the LPVO and QD rings. The 3x9 scope in see through rings will go up on the EE.

All kidding aside about the bayonet, I’m not sure there’s enough meat on the barrel to do a 5/8-24. You might have to do 1/2-28 and have a 223 muzzle device bored out. That’s what we used to have to do with the M-305’s as the barrel wasn’t meaty enough for 5/8”.

I'll keep it clean, especially the chamber. I bought 500 rounds of .308 from Marstar. I wonder if it's corrosive?

I plan to remove the barrel for cleaning so I assume I can clean it from the breach and not the muzzle.

Don't fret too much about the plastic dust cover. I've never have any trouble with them.

I'd have the trigger worked and a thin pad added.

It arrived. The barrel is a little long for me for a general kicking around carbine for shots on dinner plates from 3 to 200 yards. If it passes the range test I'm going to have Dlask chop it to 18.5" and then re-install the front sight. It is a pencil barrel so I will have it threaded 1/2" x 28 and drill out a 5.56 birdcage.

Anyone know what make of scope comes with these packages? It's in hideous see through rings that actually work not bad :)....... I'll put it up on the EE once I get the illuminated LPVO for it.

I have a 7600 Carbine with the 18.5” barrel and am very happy with it. Also have a 7400 Carbine 18.5” barrel both in 30-06 and couldn’t be happier.
 
]I've been using a 7600 rifle in 35 Whelen for a number of years.
Yes, keep the chamber clean, and it maybe goes without saying .... don't slam the magazine into place with the heel of your hand.
Insert it gently.
MOA pump with RL15 handloads ... very effective on moose. Completely "stock" except for quality trigger job by competent 'smith.

I certainly will agree ......... I've had 18.5, 20"and 22s.

20" is the best of the three. You can always get it cut shorter if you don't agree, but you will. :)
