To run shorter barrels, I guess.ACR deffinately looks like fun though, I gotta ask why they wouldn't lengthen the front HG?

Definite Maybe.
If they're smart there will be a "varmint/target" version available. In the US they can use bull barreled AR rifles for this. Here we can't. An accurate non-restricted semi auto with excellent ergonomics, and easily mounted accessories (bipods, scopes etc) would be a big hit. I'd buy one, providing they were excellent in the accuracy department.
Current options for this right now are: mini14 target, HK SL-8, Swiss Arms PE-90, and Tavor. Of these choices only the SL-8 has a semi bull barrel. Even this barrel could be thicker. The mini14 has a quasi bull barrel with the thickness changing, and the others have slightly longer combat rifle barrels. The Tavor accuracy wise may be pushing it for a varmint rifle.
Have you tried an SL-8? This might be a bit of over simplification on my part, but the ACR sure looks like an updated/modified G36. If you can live with some of the idiosyncrasies of the SL-8 or one done up with some G36 pieces, it may be a viable alternative to a rifle that may or may not show up here.
If the ACR can hold a candle to the SL-8 in the accuracy department, it will be in very good company.
Non-res! Under $2500! Folding stock! Otherwise: buy and pimp and XCR. I could get really excited over these.

A quick look will show that they are not AR barrels as all the gas ports are at about the 8" mark. The good news is that once they get into circulation I have no doubt that someone will be bringing >20" cut rifled stainless barrels to market.
Any retailer have these yet?
We have 18.6" Stainless barrels for the ACR... in stock and in Canada.
We have not put them on the website yet because the FRT# for the ACR has been "frozen" while the RCMP "review" the classification.
