remington or sako

My sendero with NF is very heavy. I love my Tikkas. I wou;ld love a sako. The 700 sendero has an awkward grip as well. It feels like a range gun

depends on the size of your hands.
i have large hands and i really like the Sendero grip - fits me a lot better than the smaller grips on most rifles.

out of curiosity -- ive never owned a Sako, but the stocks look like they are just plain cheap tupperware like the Tikka stocks. Sako 85 Stainless/Synth pic
are they?

For just plain accuracy, my vote goes to the rem. heavy barrel.....the sako for aesthetics. The wooden stocks on the Sakos are not up to par with a $1500 rifle, and I don't like the plastics, although i do have a plastic Tikka. The Sako action is slick even if it is long.

I bought a Sako in 7mm when I was about sixteen, over 20 years ago. I did put a synthetic stock on it because the factory wood seemed to nice to bash through the bush with. I've used it every season since and I don't see myself ever needing anything different.

Treat it like an investment. I didn't really when I bought it. But I'm sure glad now that I spent the extra $$.

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the Tikka T3, Sako A7 and Sako 85 if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the link. My assumptions seems to be correct. The A7 has nothing on the T3 really. Plastic in all the same places, and the same shape stock etc.

So the question still is, if it looks like a T3, shoots like a T3, and feels like a T3, why not buy the T3 and save some $$?

we're comparing Porsche's to Corvette's again. the Sako (Porsche) is LEAGUES better than the Remington. unless you purchase a Tac Ops Tango 51, then things change.

on the flip side, i own a Remington 700p LTR, and love it. keep in mind it's like 5x cheaper than a Sako TRG 22.

Sako 75 my gun

My Sako 75 (300 win. mag) syn./stainl. is the best big game hunting rifle I've ever shot and owned. The action is great, the recoil is suitable and results priceless. The funny thing is this gun I won in a draw at a RMEF banquet. I sold my Tikka of the same caliber which was a good gun but not quite as good as the Sako.

Happy hunting.

Depends what caliber.
Sako doesn't make rifles in RUM selection, but as universal rifle is a better choice in calibers like .30-06, .300WM, 7RM or so.
If you like long range shooting and do not care about weight, go with Sendero, which can be make even better with nice trigger from Rifle Basix.
On Sendero I will put something of 1-1/2 lbs, and set it up with little creep.

This dealer doesn't have them yet. Until they're in hand its speculation that they'll be here in August. We're talking Stoeger here...

For $1200 I'd skip the A7 and get the real deal.

We have a few A7's coming in Sept(Early Oct at the lastest) Most are sold but a very few aren't. We have about a dozen more coming later in Oct that aren't sold. Not sure jusy yet what they will be priced at but it will be less than $1200, even for the stainless.

Like $1199? :p

Honestly, I haven't handled one, but from what I've seen and read, I'd think anything over $800 is too much for one.

I'm not saying the plastic won't last forever, but it should cost less than comparable all-steel rifles.

No, I was thinking 1198.99. ;)
Actually, certain models may not be much over $800 once they are in good supply. The stainless and WSMs will be more but a blued standard might be in that range somewhere.

Im not saying I would buy a A7, the guy asked, and I pointed him in the right direction. My guess is Prophet River will have them in way before Stoeger distributes them in Canada.

We have a few Sako A7's now in stock. Quite a few more will be here in 2-4 Weeks. I'll get them up on the thread and the website as soon as I sort through the shipment. Lots of A7's in the shipment but most are sold, however, I know there's a very few that are still available.
