Remington Tac clubs first online Match open to all shooters

Gunslinger: I like it! It'll make it a lot more "official". I like the restrictions too: i.e. prone off a bipod, with a sling, etc. I especially like the prize idea; I'd definately be in for that.

I shot mine on the weekend and sent to Jamie. He's more than welcome to post them up.

Where's the rest of the targets??? That can't be it for shooters is it? Don't make me join the Savage group after I already bought the shirts.:p :D
I've been too busy reparing silhouettes on our range that have been holed by
50 BMG's !!

Well, took my Stevens in 223 out to the range today. About 5C, quite calm and clear. A no excuses kind of day. Shot the targets which apparently I can't post until later. Hit some, missed some.

75gr Amax over H4350 and CCI BR4 primers.

Now I did CHEAT!!! I used a Harris bipod and no rear bag but shot off a bench. Didn't feel like crawling on the frozen concrete (hey, at least I got out).

From my very limited time using a bipod, it is way different then shooting off pedestal rests. It is much harder to be consistent and I got some real fine SCHWINGS. Also, POI changed quite a bit.

Overall, this was a lot of fun and the challenge of shooting off a wiggly bouncy thing has me very intrigued. That will be the challenge for me this year - taming the bipod.

Thanks for the targets Jamie and look forward to the more formal comps. Pics to follow.

Jamie, how did you get those pics of fozzy's targets on the post? Did you scan them?

Jerry

If thats an accusation Dave, i find it in poor taste. I think you know me better than that. I don't use my .50 inside of 500yrds and when I do shoot at the 500 meter gong I use a frangable bullet that disintegrates on impact. A .308 ball would do more damage than my .50 BMG on that gong. I usually try to aim at small targets like clay's those gongs are to big for my taste. My other shooting partner with a .50 up here also uses frangable ammo so I know it's not him either. I believe there are a total of 6 BMG's in Mcmurray and some of those I would not call precision shooters and may not be aware of the damage surplus ammo can do to the gongs. It might be prudent to post a sign at the range to educate them on thier selection of ammo and gongs.

I think you can post comments like that better in a PM or a phone call if you wish to discuss the matter with me further. Or open a seperate thread.

Sorry for the Hi-jack.

Anybody using Barska optics on their tactical rig.
I am thinking of switching from nikko stirling 10 power
to Barska 6-24 swat with illuminated reticle
for nite sniping of coyotes
barska seems to have nice kit.

Hey long range canuck, I did not know 50 cal is legal in Canada
ARE they restricted or the same as smaller long guns.
They must be fun to shoot .
You lucky devil.

.50 BMG is perfectly legal to own in Canada. The same licence as a hunting rifle, non restricted. There are some like the Barretts and other semi's that are restricted or prohib's.

Ammunition is very diverse from ammo to shoot gophers at extended ranges to ammo that can penetrate armor.

If I could shoulder that baby I would love to try this match with it. I know it has the accuracy, I just don't have the muscle.

And yes, they are a total rush to shoot!! I have had mine out to 1 mile. I have friends that have had thiers out over 2 miles.

One of lifes must do's if not must have's

Not an accusation, just a frustrated statement.

I know it was not you LRC, but the turkey and the Chicken were deffinatley holed by a .50, not smaller.
