Restoration Sticky.

I thought, though I did it before I came to University, I might post my Swedish M-94/14 restoration.

I have all the parts together for my No4 restoration, but I am having difficulty fitting the barrel bands on as they seem very tight. It is like they are not large enough to fit and tighten up over the stock.

Could someone point me in the right direction on how to correct this? I apologize for this question as I'm sure its been thrown around before.

Thanks - Tanner

If the forend is new, it can require careful removal of some material to properly fit the parts. That's a good thing; that way you know all the parts can be tight, nothing loose.

I got alots of help and advice from Mr. Clarke on this form,, it was much appreciated

ShooterMcGavin, that's quite a successful end product, that's very impressive!

In Lee Enfield news, here's a "Jungle" I recently refurbed for a local gentleman. It came with varnished stock, and a non-original butt. I got a good butt stock from TradeEx (Thanks Tony and Anthony!), some metal and rubber bits from a NorthBay acquaintance (Thanks Russ!), and a few bits from Numrich in the US. Stained the wood parts to match, refinished with linseed oil, and it sure looks better now (not that I did particularly good, I mean to say that really it wasn't pretty when it got here) :)

Just recently completed my first restoration attempt of a No4. Based on a Long Branch receiver, it has a mix of Long Branch and British hardware, and the stock was new unissued. Cheers to CGN local, Ron for some beautiful LB marked hardware! Might not be perfect, but she looks a lot better than before anyway. -Tanner

Lou, thanks for the kind words, If anyone has another torch cut Bren Kit around I am always looking to buy another and do it again??? Or any other similar LMG kits

Here's one i put together not to long ago. Is a Enfield 1908 No1 Mk1. I traded a heavily sportered No1 MkIII for it in it's bubba'd state and traded a real rough No1 MkIII single shot 410 for the complete stock set with all the metal bits. I was told that the one i had was rebuilt in Ireland to MkIII specs before being bubba'd so i put a MkIII furniture set on it. Looks good now, just gotta find a stock disc for it.

Posted the Enfield before but changed to a diff set of wood that matched more. Now I need a few parts and another will be brought back... just looking for a cheap sporter and another bayonet.

1898 Infanterie Gewehr - 1907 Spandau

Bought her like this from Ellwood Epps (lots of love needed to bring back to an operational level again):

With the purchase and acquisition of a stock, hand guard, and front/rear bands (thanks thomasam !!!), I brought her back to this level:

As an added bonus, the unit disc on this stock is marked:

With a few final pieces to the puzzle that included a period sling and a replacement cleaning rod, she now proudly looks like this:

One more rifle brought back to life and saved from destruction.

Range report to be posted shortly.

Sorry about the grainy photos - my digital camera died on me, and this is the best I can get with my camcorder. This is a 1941 Long Branch No. 4 Mk.1 I am putting back together as a labour of love. Because of sheer blind luck, I have managed to get most of the parts in less than 2 months, including the correct LB MK.1 rear sight, early cocking piece, correct magazine, etc. The only part I don't have yet is a rear hand guard that will match black walnut (or birch stained to match black walnut). I will post full photos when the rifle is completed.
