RF224 11.7” Review?

Are the pro-mag drums a bag of #### too, or do they work better?
I have a new 30rnd drum. At 1st, I thought it was g2g, as I had it loaded full 30 of CCI Mini-Magz, wound as tight as it would go, but only shot 10 at the time, with little issue. Next time I went to shoot the rest,{sat for a few days} it was nothing but problems.

I will try & test it with a full 30 {at once} & see again today. I haven't got to the range lately, but I can legally shoot where I am, I just don't shoot here allot, or 'rapid fire' really, as there are neighbours on the side & across the river..but I'll see if I can get through the 30 today of CCI Mini Magz & report back.
Basically I've had little issue using 10/22 10 round mags & Butler Creek 10/25's with minimal f2f's etc. last time I had Zero of anything/issues. Ran the Butler creeks with 2 different types of ammo perfectly.

I'm confused as to the appeal of the 30 round drum mags. You guys just like the way it looks?

You can fit 23-24 rounds in the 597 stick mags. They're easier to carry, easier to insert and handle.

Other than aesthetics I don't see the point.... Maybe if the capacity was 60 or 100 lol That would be fun 😁

Has anyone removed the buffer tube on one of these yet? Are they standard treads that can be replaced with existing commercial or mil tubes?

I picked up one at Tenda last summer and I was very disappointed as nothing would cycle except Stingers. Bought banana mags and it jammed non stop. As of April 2026 I have it now cycling any ammo and every time with no issues. It took a little help from me and a few trips to the range. Not sure if I am a loud to post on here how I got it to work. Send me a PM if you want to know. 1. Thing is that gun does not like a lot of oil.

I took it off but not sure if it is standard threads or not. Just unscrew it. Bit tight but not bad.

You mean like this.

Well, I'm back fellas, went to the range today and after about 4 mags the bolt locked back. And after examination the bolt has broken allowing it to fall out of its channel.
Does anyone here who has both a ruger 1022 and adler rf224 willing to try swapping in the 1022 bolt assembly? Would be handy before i order one. I'm also going to reach out to the vendor and see what they say.

Edit: looking at photos of 1022 bolts i dont think it would work cause of the ejector "blade" in the adler.

Yes like that mine is just starting. I lost my receipt not sure if I'll be able to figure out warranty.
Not good, that part of the bolt is so thin, i was hoping mine would be a one off, however I'm not confident it won't happen again.
I'd shoot sfrc an email anyway about repair of i were you

^ Fred, is SFRC have your Adler now/getting repair under warranty?

No i have it back, sfrc did a great job i got it back within 2 weeks of sending it to them, i posted a couple updates after getting it back on page 7.
I've honesty not shot it a whole lot since, I'm pretty burnt out on it.
I did take it out yesterday and put 400 or so federal automatch through it, with about 20 malfunctions, hate to say but thats pretty dang good for the adler.

wow.. I have a basic rifle in now for almost couple months.. I emailed them as well after 4/5 weeks, to see whats up, & nothing, not a reply. Still, not reply/update still.
I also commentted how they pull allot of stock then have these fantasical sales.. 14% off + free ship etc. but, when you look for products, they are gone. Not the ones they list, just other (popular) product is gone off their site, until MAGICALLY, the sale is over lol.. what chumps. Aren't they the ones people used to say that were 'co-operating' early on too? & to advoid? Just like my comments, Im sure they scrubbed those too. ( and these ones?!?) Maybe this is why my rifle is taking so long lmao. What a p o s company.

This is strange. I've bought and dealt with SFRC for many years and had nothing but stellar service. Albeit I've never had to warranty anything yet.

Maybe this has to do with these rifles specifically. Perhaps Adler is d*cking them around with the availability of replacement parts or whatever. I'd figure they would just give you another brand new unit at that point, though. Hopefully this gets resolved for you ASAP.

Thank goodness for this thread, as it has clarified a lot of questions I've had about the RF224. Namely reliability, which appears to suck BIG TIME. Cracking bolts? Seriously, that's some early Norinco circa the 1990's type of sh*t... I didn't realize we still had to worry about such garbage manufacturing in the 2020's.

At first when I've read that this RF224 was a "10/22 clone", I was gonna be all over that. But then I found out it's just "based on" the 10/22 and the only interchangeable part is the mag. WTF is the point then, really? The Ruger 10/22 patent is long expired and there's absolutely NO reason under the sun to make a "clone" with main components that are not 10/22 interchangeable.... well, except maybe for corporate incompetence in the design department.

A hard pass on this thing for me. Too bad, because the looks and utility of a compact rifle are definitely there. For the price though, one is MUCH better off with an actual 10/22 compact (16.4" barrel) and a folding stock.
