Robarms XCR FAQ post

what the heck does this mean?

Please Note: While the 5.56x45mm NATO will fit in a .223 Remington chamber, the 5.56 is a military round that runs at higher pressures than its .223 counterpart and is not recommended to be fired in a .223 Remington chambers.

"higher pressures" ?

I have run the black box AE 223/556(20 round boxes) in my xcrl and it is made to shoot 223 rem and 5.56 military. I am not sure if the black box AE and the one pictured in your link is the same but it will be no issue in a xcr-l nor would I hesitate to use that ammo.

Early XCR barrels were marked at 5.56, than they change the marking to 5.56/.223.

Currently it is listed as 5.56 NATO(.223 Remington) on the Robinson product page.

finally got my rifle in. It's the competition length one with a full handguard. The gas settings actually go from 1-7 instead of 1-4..should be interesting. I also noticed the mount I bought for my optic is way too high in relation to where I rest my cheek even with the cheek weld adjusted higher. I got the 1" burri PEPR mount. The mount allows the scope to clear the irons...but yea much too high for my natural head position.

Does anyone know what friggen size allen key i need to remove the irons and what mount would be best?

I use weaver tactical low mounts, but I don't leave my irons on. You'll need an 5/32 Allan Key for the troy sights that come with the XCR-L's. Barrel retention uses 1/4 , Case Deflector uses 9/64 ,bolt catch is 7/64, Stock is 3/16. I found that co-witnessing wasn't comfortable for me, but you'll certainly want to play with stock height and mount high to get what feels right for you and if you want absolute or lower third co-witness.

I would be interested in seeing the new models with longer fore ends. If I were interested in restricted models I would have considered it, but for NR weight is my biggest concern. I had an older quad rail years ago before the key mods - it was a beast and very front heavy.

lemme see if I can throw up a pic. Yea it is def front heavy but she looks beaut. Wonder whats up with the 1-7 gas setting versus the traditional 1-4 settings. Might start off at 5 or 4 and work my way down depending on how strong those settings are.

So yeah, my Burris pepr mount is most certainly too high for my head. Do the weaver tactical low mounts give you enough clearance for your scope? I have a 40mm objective lens on mine.

Suppressor mode and full gas system shut off.

Our rifles were built to be canned......shame it won't see it.

what gas setting do you run yours on after break in bro?

I run my gun on 1 or 2 depending on ammunition I am using that day. 7.62x39 for me.

Soon as you have any misfeeds ect make sure your gas block is tightened up and just go up one setting and keep firing.

You want to run the rifle on as little gas as possible that still operates correctly.

Have you raised the stock using the three holes to adjust height? It was enough for me with a PEPR and a Vortex 4-16 PST.

I raised the rubber cheek peice that moves up about .25 of an inch. What three holes? You're telling me the entire stock can adjust upward too? Did not see that in the manual..

When you say make sure the gas block is tighetened up.. Are you referring to the bolt barrel? Have yet to remove the barrel and gas tube on this competition model, not sure how it all comes out yet.

The gas block is mounted to the barrel with a allen head set screw.
Some have had problems with the screw backing out, mis-aligning the barrel port and the gas block.
