I'm curious if all the RPD's, for those that opted for the upgrade, are completed?
As I understand the paperwork on the Merican side of the border was completed.. I hope.

This is painful. I keep seeing sales on other firearms, as well as new stuff coming out and have to fight the temptation to ditch the RPD. I promised myself the RPD will be the ONLY firearm purchase this year ( I failed!!!). What I should say is ''expensive'' purchase this year, after all Russian surp's are very affordable, so in my book the odd red rifle doesn't count.... I cheated :p

I know what you mean!!! If I would pass the rpd i could get the dd mk12 thats calling my name and I would top it off with a nightforce 2.5-10x32!!!!!
 
I hope we get news soon, at least the project gun progress! It gets harder and harder to fight of the urge to cancel this pre order and buy something I can actually use right now.
 
Haha if this keep up we will need to start a tread of what did we buy with the refund we got for the rpd haha.


The real fight inside of me right now is, will this be a novelty gun for me? I know that there isn't alot of other gun that have such second kind of cool factor to them but let's say I actually want to use it. How precise will it be at 100-400yards with surplus ammo? How will the trigger pull be? Will it be a cool calm 6-8 pounds or a nightmarish 12-14? If I buy a spare too cover and install a rail on it will it hold zero or wobble on the pins? All those questions plus is this my one and only chance to have a rpd, this nr rpd vs. A restricted dd mk12. ..... will the novelty wear of.....

Questions questions. ...
 
Novelty? Meh. All my guns are novel. I want it because of reasons.

I plan to hit the range like this... only with a 308 Valmet M78 instead of the RPK.... but the pic is close...

I don't understand why we can't at least get confirmation that the upgrade work was done?! This was supposed to be long done so guns would be ready once approved. I'd really like to know where this stands cause if this is not done then the frt is not the issue and my confidence level crashes

I'm going to say that I find this experience extremely frustrating as if it isn't enough that we have to deal with the rcmp lab there lack of timeline , but that I expected. What I didn't expect was being stonewalled by AE :s I mean wen was it in march that the gun were going to Florida for a coupe of weeks... no update and all this for a 3 gran gun we fully paid for!

I am calling tomorrow, there might be a spot opening depending on there response....
 
I sent an email a couple weeks ago. No word on FRT progress. The rifles are still state side. Any new info will be passed to the buyers ASAP. That was it.
I find myself looking at other hardware on the Canadian market. There's a lot of rifles I'm interested in, but the Rpd is still on the top of my list. I admit the wait is complete torture for the amount of coin to hand out for waiting such a long time. I'm starting to get a bit antsy. I hope we hear something soon.
 
Well I remember the email we got, do we want the gun permanently imported befor frt with the risk, wait and have it imported with temporarily paper with refund if prohibited or have them sit in the U.S. every update we had since did not adress this. We were told the gun's were in Florida for a "free upgrade" and would be ready to ship to canada after the what four or six week was it? Then not a word only that he was confident about end of summer delivery....

Anyhow il be calling tomorrow and making decision. ..

As for the FRT status, who knows. I wonder how long this will drag out. Between waiting for the cz858/SA verdict and the RPD FRT, I see trees grow faster.

That's my understanding, there was no time line for the upgrade.
I'm getting the impression the rifles will stay State side until the FRT is issued.
 
I don't see much business sense for either seller or buyer to bring them here. If they dont get approved oh well, I'll get something, or somethings else for the price. I'll be bummed, but their are other things to fill the safe that are just as cool for the money.
