Ruger American Rifle

I would say the new model 70 have you held one???
It sure seems that the market is getting pretty crowded with rifles in the $300 - $400 range. Stevens, Axis, Marlin and so on. Now Ruger is jumping in. I'm not saying that it is not important to make safe reliable and accurate rifles in this price range but I sure would like to see some effort in putting together accurate rifles with no plastic parts that load, eject, and shoot straight, that last a long time. I know there are rifles in the 5-800 dollar range out there that try to do this but when you hear about things like loading and ejecting issues as well as poor quality in these rifles it gets pretty frustrating.

Therefore, if that is what we are getting from the major companies a fellow might as well buy the lower end rifles because the more expensive ones simply aren't worth the extra money.

What company out there makes an accurate rifle that has all metal parts, a good stock, wood or synthetic ( no tupperware ), Good finish and machining, and a trigger that is respectable for under $1000 ?

Actually no but I will make an effort to do so. I'm getting tired of the stable of tupperware I've been using and I think it is time to focus on a couple of quality rifles.

Not saying the tupperware is bad but after eating junk food ( which does the job it was intended to do) a fellow likes a nice steak now and then.

FN Model 70's
CDL/CDL SF Model 700's
CDL Model 7's
Ruger MKII's

And right now Wholesale has Kimber Classic 8400 '06 based rifles on for 899 to make room for the new lightweight 84L's :ar15:

I swear some of you already own these rifles!!! You know how well they shoot, how they feel and so on!!! Crazy!!! There is a new movie commng out called "The Raid" that is not out yet but I'd like to see it. How was it? :jerkit:

This is just like the Edge/Axis drama before it came out...sure its not pretty but a pretty gun does not mean its a good gun and it does not shoot all by itself and put meat on the table either. I have out shot factory Remington 700 SPS' with expensive glass with my factory Savage Axis w/stock el cheapo scope, a gun by most of your logic should shoot 2x as well as mine as it costs at least 2x more!!!

There is a review on gun blast of a .30-06 model that was shooting cloverleafs with factory Federal loads. That is more then good enough for hunting or playing pop can sniper at the range.

Sure buy exotic wood stocked rifles made by a company no one can pronounce correctly IF you can afford it. but some people cannot. At least guys with these "cheaper" rifles are not going to be overly gworried about dinging it up in the bush and so on. I am sure that this rifle will shoot better then 90% of people out there.

PS. I believe there is no scoped package model but all of them do come with scope bases.

Seems to me the "Ruger Euro" would have been a more accurate name. There's not much there that I like, but I don't own a 710 either and its unlikely I'll ever own a rifle with an Accu-trigger. I bet it'll sell like hot cakes.

"Euro" as in the soon to be abolished and obsolete currency? ....or...if you're suggesting Europeans flock toward cheap, synthetic stocked rifles, you're just a bit off. ;)

Sounds like ol Archie better go get his fancy tickeled again, getting a little sensitive. :nest: Tikka worked this morning, two coyotes called in non left on their own power.:D

The new Ruger seems to stack right up there with the T-3, of which I'm not a fan, and its the European manufactures who seem to be enthralled with plastic bolt shrouds and triple bolt lugs. That said, my assessment is bang on.

When I think of European manufacturers I don't get stuck on Sako/Tikka. I think Blaser, Merkel, Mauser, Heym, Krieghoff, Sauer, Steyr-Mannlicher, Reimer-Johanssen, Hartmann & Weiss and so on. Your assessment is way off.
