Ruger PC Carbine

Love the Magpul stock this PCC bandwagon is becoming harder and harder to resist.
I am still partial to the PPSH lookalike 16" MLOCK tho, really wish our lawmakers went 16 not 18.5 to keep things simple and open the floodgate.
We need Ruger to make these rails two inches longer or someone up here make a rail extension available.

How is everyone's experience with an optic attached to the receiver rail holding zero after multiple takedowns? (Assuming you've got a decent mount)

Another question, has anyone found an optic mount or set of see-through rings that allow for use of the factory irons? I've tried a bunch of my mounts and the see-through channel is either too high or too low.

I'm a "belt and suspenders" kind of guy when it comes to sights, just wondering if anyone else out there has come across something that works.

I’d be interested too, but feel like it would give an awful cheek weld. 9mm in a rifle is a <100 yard gun, and anything your gonna shoot with it likely the stock irons are fine enough to smack it.

Bushnell TRS25 positioned as far back on the rifle as possible. Requires you to draw down on the stock to get a good sight picture but this optic is about as good as it gets with respect to height.
Would be interested if someone has found something better.

The stock magazine release is pretty poorly designed.
Requires you to push it level with the stock in order to disengage.
Depending on tolerances, it may require you to push the button below the stock.
This requires the user to use the ends of their fingers/thumb instead of the side of your digit.
It requires a very deliberate action to eject a mag. Due to the sloppy fit (intentional) you have to kind of wiggle the button when engaging it.

I redesigned the button to allow for a more intuitive and positive disengagement of the magazine when pressed.
I ended up increasing the height of the stock mag button to .250 inches and added more aggressive top surface if the fingers are wet or cold.
It uses the original factory length screw.

Will be printing it out on Tuesday to see how it works.

I have mine setup like this and find I can still use the irons through the trs25 in a kinda 1/3 lower co-witness.

im a huge fan of being able to see your factory sights through your red dot but i found this all but impossible with this rifle.
i ended up picking up a Nikon AR scope and putting it on a quick release mount so i can just flick the side of the mount and the scope is off and im back onto the irons.

i know i know, loose zero.
i honestly felt this was the best solution and i really like how it runs.
im not super big into red dots and glass is always better for my eyes that are getting older with each passing year.

How are people using these little plinkers that minor zero shifts are going to ruin their lives?

I can sort of see the irons in my trs25 but the emitter is bottom right and almost in the way. It's distracting where it is anyways.

There is a sport rising up for these "little plinkers" as you say that makes holding zero somewhat important. For the most part it would be a mild inconvenience to have to re-zero the gun but still an inconvenience. They are just fun guns to shoot and PCC Division in IDPA is growing rapidly both in Canada and the US. I suspect IPSC will see the same amount of growth.

Take Care

Bob
