Ruger Precision Rifle Coming Soon!

From my understanding 7.62x51 has lower pressures than 308 win so that's rarely an issue. The opposite is true of 5.56 and 223

Has Wanstalls confirmed a price for the Ruger Precision? Back and forth with placing orders ?? but nobody is mentioning price. $1500 + tax or 1599 + tax. Lets hear from those that have pre-ordered as a couple of requests have been made on price and nobody replied from at least what I have read. Did Wanstalls ever mention price on this thread? Thanks.

We are honoring the $1499 when we started accepting pre-orders.

Does anyone know if this rifle would work with 7.62x51 (NATO) rounds? Doesn't say anywhere that it will but I'm hoping. ;-)

My experience with 7.62x51 is that I've had issues ejecting a spent case with bolt action rifles.
I had issues with my Rem 700, Savage 10 and 11 and my Ruger American.
At least that is what I saw with the recent batch from Marstar.

Looks like a nice rifle. Looking at the design with the bolt, what are the chances of getting debris such dirt, grit or snow behind the action and having it jam? Looks like there is quite the cavity behind the bolt that could cause the bolt not to open if it was plugged. Thank you.

Not helpfull in determining if the barrel is of the same design as an AR

hopefully it is so shorter light barrel options will be cheap. If the rifles weight could be reduced to the 7lb range it would make a decent option for hunting.

I have asked a number of retailers this same question about the barrel, none have been able to answer so far., wait and see I guess.

The barrel is of a different design than an AR barrel, I doubt they are threaded for a barrel extension like an AR. Ruger is using an AR nut to attach the barrel to the receiver so users can use whatever free float hand guard they want.

will shorter barrels and forearms be available? I can see this becoming more a hunting rifle than a precision rig lol :p ;)

What are you hunting that requires a shorter barrel than 20 inches?
since when does one have to quantify what they want with a requirement?

I would like one of these if AR barrels are a direct fit (without gas port drilled of course) to reduce weight and length.

Ideally, I want a 16" light profile barrel on a 308 with shorter/lighter for end and a lighter fixed buttstock.

Hopefully One of the retailers on here can answer my earlier question before they arrive.

Hi Wanstalls

In Rugers own advertisement is says it uses a AR barrel nut and go no go gauges for swapping barrels.

Do you know if the barrels are the same as an AR? Like a short barrel from an AR can be swapped on with no modifications other than having no gas port?

Had you originally said that some of us wouldn't have bumped up our post count by 2 asking why (YES I'm scratching to find a positive reason for these posts).

Still going with 6.5CM for less recoil, superior BC and Hornady match grade ammo.
You can get match grade ammo in 308 which has higher standards of manufacture and consistency. 7.62x51 ammo is more surplus ammo. If modern made, still not as consistent.
