This is a good idea.
You can't win if you play a game created and arbitrated by your opponent.
Debating gun [x] vs [y] is not interesting to the wider public, and they don't understand or care about the nuances of the Ruger No. 1.
They do care and will understand a conversation about people.
How to help people and make society genuinely safer.
Good thinking here.
Thank you, I appreciate your comment.
It gets better if we put the focus on people that spill outside of our gun community:
- whatever percentage of the population that are gun owners there are a lot more people outside of our community who have stress issues, depression and all other forms of temporary episodes of an in ability to cope. Anything that we do, in conjunction with government ministries, to help these people will go a long way to redefining our image.
- in our fight against the antis we only have one degree of freedom and that is to exert enough influence politically that the Liberals can't cut us down as deep as they want to. Until next time. When you start reaching out with people top of mind the degrees of freedom and the opportunity to pick the right issues, the right allays, the right message and the right audience expand infinitely. Strategic plans, good professional PR and long term / sincere effort to follow through can only attract like minded people; gun owners and non gun owners alike.
- I have a mild expression of interest from a major Canadian suicide prevention org and they left me with the impression that the idea of an alliance with us, the people who know firearms, was doable but they do not have the money. This is where government comes in - funding.
- we're not limited to supporting our new allies. The gun community can offer bursaries of scholarships to people of our choosing and qualify them according to our rules to sow the seeds of understanding in the broader public - one mind at a time.
Hopefully Wolverine will pick up on this and use their influence to get it on the agenda for the next election. When it became apparent that O'Toole wasn't going to wipe the floor with the Failure eof A Lifetime PM I got a call from someone in the CPC asking me for more details about this idea but it was too late by then. We have a few months now to get it ready for prime time.
