Russian SKS45 long thread.

same thing val. With a floating firing pin this soft primer phenomenon does have the potential to happen, though I've never had a problem or heard of a problem regarding slam fires in an SKS or VZ personally.

edit: holy $hit batman, should've jumped forward a few pages I guess ;)

1953 Tula from Frontier came today.

This is a hand select.

Serials match (non-forced), perfect bore, etc.

Almost pristine aside from small a ding in the stock.

Covered in Cosmoline, I will clean it up this weekend.

I'm happy.

looks great and dont forget to mention the golden bayo .

I cleaned my 1953 Tula tonight and confirmed that the gun is probably never issued. All numbers matched, no forced match at all, and no markings of refurb. Even the safety by the trigger needs a little break in to be as crispy as my other Norcs. Beautiful gun from Frontier, looks exactly the same as OC-3's. By the way, the sling is on. Just a matter of when to hit the range to sight in. Once that's done, it's ready for the coming hunting season:cool:.

Hey Curtton. Yugo vs Russian, which one shoots better?

well , not really a fair comparison. i have only the M59/66 and its alot bigger and heavier than any other SKS also the yugo doesnt have chrome bore and i believe non-chrome are more accurate (others may disagree) so to answer your question , its gotta be yugo.... having said that , i dont shoot it that often cos its a pain to clean and cumbersome to handle (imho).

but its not for sale either , part of the family . sorry . :D:D:D

Thanks but that was not the point. I just don't like to be treated like an idiot when I'm paying my hard earned $$$$ and I did my homework to be on the Russian sks bandwagon early. Also waiting for sooo long to be dicked around in the end is not one of my favorite pastimes.

You waited this long, what would another few weeks be?

Chillout:p

Does anyone know if an un-refurbed, original rifle would have had electro-pencil marks on it anywhere? I'm not talking forced match on the cover, or carrier or anything that obviously should have had stamped numbers but on the gas tube, piston, extractor etc. Did the original rifles have the numbers stamped on these parts or were they numbered at all?

Basically, does the presence of pencil numbering anywhere automatically make it a refurb even if all other refurb indications are missing?

Yesterday.... I'm not gonna name people for now and my order was placed when the dealer just put his add.

Okay, so you were told this yesterday. If your order was with Frontier, you realize people had orders in for over a year, right? Perhaps, all the matching rifles have been shipped out. Hand-select = best of the current batch. If all have bent barrels but one, and you put in an order for hand-select, that's the rifle you get.

If your order was not with Frontier, it is possible that the rifles that particular dealer has, are NOT matching. Just because they are not matching, doesn't mean they're not hand-select. Hand-select and uber mint collector are not synonymous.

If the dealer only put his ad out yesterday, perhaps it's best to wait until you hear from more people who ordered from that particular dealer. Comparisons among dealers' rifles isn't really accurate.

My order was over a year old. That's why I'm not impressed. When the SKS's started shipping I waited 2 weeks and nothing. If I didnt call to find out, they would have simply ignored me. I guess I fell through the cracks, they botched up and to cover up they lied to me.

Very frustrating when your order falls through the cracks.....I feel your pain!

If it was Frontier, did you call to reconfirm your order as indicated on their site and here in this thread?

Sorry, I was unaware that you had an order placed last year, I was under the impression that this was a new order based on one of your earlier posts.
