Russian SKS45 long thread.

Whoops, I should have just copied and pasted the entire update:

SKS Update - Dec 18, 2008

Both orders of rifles have now been approved and are scheduled to ship out on the second week in January. Because of the timing, all orders will revert back to the original pricing of $229.95 delivery included.

The condition of the rifles is good, however because almost all are in the same shape, we will not be able to offer hand select grade. We have a line on a very small number premium grade rifles that might be available in late January but it will be limited to 20 units or less. More details will be provided as made available.

It says both orders so I'm assuming it means the original shipment as well. But we'll see what smartbomb reports with his call to S.I.R. If this is really the original shipment, I am very excited. I was betting over a year from when I ordered it which was Feb.

good of marlin to roll back the price on the 100 and also not increase the original price due to currentcy fluctuation.

we are moving from " are they here yet?" to "cant believe its really here". :D

Exactly.
One SKS from Frontier, two from SIR and a T97 from CanAm, all probably arriving at about the same time.
I was hoping to space these things out a bit, but that may not happen.
Pound that Visa, broke again :D

and dont forget the new VZ58 from marstar. im gonna go broke .:)

thanks rob , i'll paste it . i see the price is quite abit higher than frontier .
also , when they said its "non-refurbished" , i wonder if they meant unissued or they meant "used" cos most russian SKS has been refurbed at some point.

Ellwood Epps has finally received our long-awaited shipment of SKS rifles!

These are Russian-built, non-refurbished military surplus rifles manufactured by Tula. Each gun comes complete with blade-style bayonet, oil bottle, and sling.

Retail pricing is $279.00 each, plus taxes.

They are new old(1954) unissued guns that Epps is selling. They come with the cleaning kit, bandolier, issue sling, stripper clips etc.

if thats the case then $279 is worth it .

edit: i just called and the person who answer the phone said they could ship it out as early as 23th dec.

Having a tough time getting through to SIR. Anybody have any news on their shipment?

I called SIR yesterday in Winnipeg as they got in 1120 count cases of 7.62X39mm ammo for $199.99. I asked them if the SKS's were in the same shipment. (assuming they wanted to sell the ammo with the SKS's) They said "no."

$279.99 for an SKS. Doesn't this seem a little steep? $294.00 after GST not including $20.00ish for freight. That's almost $315.00. Someone recently sold 2 of them here for $300.00 TOTAL.

Please enlighten me. I have two Norco's, one a serious POS (but well kept) and another one brand new other than 60 rounds through it and I can hit paper in 2-3" groups at 100 yards with surplus ammo with the iron sights. Are the Russian ones all that better?

yes, the russian SKS are better , may not be in shootability but definitely in workmenship . like i said $279 isnt bad if it is a collector grade.
