Russian SKS45 long thread.

I was finally able to pick up the new member of the family.

It's a 1954 Tula from the IZH batch

The stock and handguard are not laminated.

I have not seen any electro-pencilled marks on any of the metal parts so far.
The stock has 2 crossed out serial numbers, so it is on its third rifle.
Overall I like the look of it quite a bit.

Steamer & Blow dryer ?
I don't recall any of those methods in my Soviet small arms maintenance manuals
LOL

That's because it was written by boys... lol. Actually it was so clean i hardly needed the steamer. But it sure cleaned off what there was quicky. great for in the stock. Now to oil and put it back together.

Look very familiar . Was it a hand select or shooter grade

I got screwed when it came to the oil bottle and sling too, but it doesn't really bother me. I got one sling for both of my SKSs. At least I got the cleaning kits with both.

I cant believe the condition of my ruski! I think that it was probably only test fired. There is no wear on this rifle! All numbers matching, basicly brand new when i think about the cold war era history with this rifle i feel a little guilty firing it... Oh well already put a few boxes thru it and at 100 yds its grouping 3-4" pretty good i think. Happy shooting to all

All right!!! I am all done! It is now truly mine. All cleaned and oiled. Much better. Now to decide what to do about the stock.... But not tonight I gotta sleep! Thanks for the links Smartbomb.
