S&B PMII 12-50x56 Who has one?

Definitely a personal preference as far as eye relief is concerned. I took a good hit once when test firing a 375 H&H and have been cautious ever since. I am personally a huge fan of the 5-25 S&B in the FFP with cm turret adjustment on the larger caliber rifles.
Glad to hear I have been of help to you guys as well
Guy

Here is 25x at 1000m with the S&B P4F.. target is 31" tall x 16" wide. Photo doesn't do it justice, way better in person. Will be getting a 50x S&B this week for comparison.

Looks like an absolutely perfect spot to shoot. All my long distance shooting is in BC too, around Penticton. Seems like there aren't too many lucky people like us that have access to 1200+ shooting areas.

Wow, that looks amazing. Way better than my zeiss.....

Where abouts are you shooting? I have zero clue where to go other than the ranges (MDGRC).

IMO the S+B PMii is about the best glass you can buy. I have the 12-50x56 because I wanted the high mag top end but the 5-25 do look very, very good. Tough to choose but on those days that you feel you need more mag than the 25 it would kinda suck to have made the wrong call.

While I am clearly a S+B fan you may want to look at the new NF Comp - looked through one at a match today and I was impressed.

Who has one? How do you like it? I can't decide between the 5-25 or 12-50. I'd like to stick with mil/mil I was thinking of the P3, however would the smaller hash marks have any benefits for paper punching up to 600 meters?

For the Precision competitions in the BCRA, the 5 - 25 X 56mm PM-II is plenty of scope.I usually have mine set on 12X,and not more the 15X.
Higher magnification means less field of view, and that can be a hindrance with moving or exposure targets. More isn't always better.Especially when it is really hot out and mirage is bad.

As for turret adjustments, For Precision/Tactical shooting we do go for .1 Mil or .25 MOA adjustments. IMHO, for this style of shooting you don't want the finer adjustments.

haha, there you go putting even more doubt into my head!

I tried shooting 200 meters today, I wasn't having much luck at 25x hitting consistently. I dialed it back to 15x, where the hold overs are accurate for my ammo (from zeiss's ballistic calculator) and was able to have all 10 shots within 3". I kind of can see why lower mag is good, but wouldn't starting at 12x be low enough?

Depending on distance, conditions, etc, you may want to dial down lower on the mag scale. I have dropped down to as low as 6X on certian stages.

Hm I wonder if it's too late to sign up for the precision rifle comp on the island this weekend. I may just have to try shooting at further distances before making up my mind. And now if I'm happy with 5-25 I may just pony up another 1k for the TT with lifetime warranty.

Yes there are still tickets left, here is the link: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/vancouver-island-precision-rifle-fall-regional-2015-tickets-18061411167

If the forecast holds true it should be a nice day. They will pair you up with someone who has shot there before so no worries. There are usually some 5-25 S&B's on the line as well, I'm sure someone will let you have a look.

Good advice right there. Go shoot the match. Someone will have one you can play with. Failing that you can shoot some through mine to get a feel.

Oh damn, thought it was on Sunday. I won't have a bolt for my rifle until Friday, and I rather not go without tons of practice before hand or a drop chart or a sling. Well I guess I know what I should work on before a match.
