S&W M&P Compact

Talked to Storm Lake today, they are apparently evaluating the situation right now and will have a decision by next week if they will be repairing or replacing the barrel and sending to Questar.

Still more waiting, but at least somewhat of an update.

How stupid is that, what's to evaluate. The f%#ked up and it got by their QC process (if they have one). Replace it ASAP to keep the customer happy and scrap the screwed up one when they get it back. They probably CNC the barrels and it would be cheaper and faster to make a new one.

I put an order in for one, liked the feel of it when at Shot, already have the G26 and 226. Me I'm ok with pigs with lipstick.

I just emailed Questar regarding the .40 S&W barrel issue to see if I could get an update. I received a quick response back "We are still waiting on the barrels to be returned to us".

Ya, that's all I got form Questar also, which is why I contacted Storm Lake directly. Got a response within 3 minutes.

The exact response from Storm Lake:
We have that being evaluated. Our service department has been back logged as well and we should have a decision made within the next week. From there it will be repaired or replaced and sent back to Questar.

I am failing to understand what is there to evaluate or what decision is possibly there to make? Just get a new barrel, the right one and send it pronto...

Over a month and still dic**ng around trying to evaluate what happened? Well, send a new barrel first, then evaluate all you want...

You kidding right?

Who made the mistake? A barrel stamped for .40 but actually being a 9mm... ?

Regardless, a new replacement barrel should have been sent immediately and yes I stand correct, there is nothing to evaluate or to make a decision about. Nothing that should impact the end user at least. Over a month to figure out what went wrong?

I think what they meant was that they were evaluating whether they should repair the barrels or just replace them. But I completely agree, why they think it is acceptable to drag the customer along for over a month while they figure this out is beyond me.

Technically I'm not Storm Lake's customer in this instance, Questar is. I would have hoped Questar was putting a bit more pressure on Storm Lake considering they are selling an $850+ tax item that relies on their barrel. It would have been better if Questar had figured this out themselves, delayed shipping, and I would have had held on to my (almost) $1000 for another couple of months!

There is no much to fix other than fitting that barrel onto a 9mm handgun. You need a .40 barrel and you have been waiting for one since before Christmas.

Probably I will end up with your .40 barrel on my 9c... lol

Wouldn't that be hilarious?

But on a serious note, no news about my 9c yet... Was told they should be receiving them in 4 weeks time.. Hopefully...

Are they waiting for the 9c from S&W or the barrel from SL?

Hopefully everything is right the first time on the 9c.

Questar ordering these one at a time? Maybe Dlask will bring these in for us. They did pretty good bringing in the compact Glocks at a really decent price.

I hear these are hard to find in the US as well, so there must be a backlog... None of the less, I am looking forward to it, I loved the full size one, I really hope this is just as good...

At least in the US they are more practical, ie. CCW. I still enjoy shooting compacts and sub-compacts though.

This is the email I received from Storm Lake
"We received the barrel back this week and it is being sent to be recoated in the black isonite finish within the next 1-2 weeks. Your total lead time before we ship back to Questar is going to be approx 2-4 weeks. We do apologize for the delay and any inconvenience this has caused you.
