85's are rock-solid as far as I know. Sad about the 75's, I had a line on a nice used piece, a stainless .30-06. Owner wouldn't sell it though after he heard about the recall, brought it in to a gun shop and took store credit instead.
If i remember correctly 5 people were injured, 3 in Scandinavia, 2 in the USA, of course the company wanted to keep it under wraps.
Almost blow his hand off, 4-5 hours surgery to reconnect it.
The reason some of these rifles failed had to do with a bad batch of steel that was used. Sako was very up front about it and publicly recalled rifles with certain serial numbers through any that had been registered for warranty and through the dealers/wholesalers who had those numbers shipped to them.
It was not due to steel that was too hard, it was due to the imperfections within the structure of the steel.
The lowest serial number affected by this recall is 419140 and the highest serial number affected is 461951;
I have a Sako S/S 75 with serial no.43###x that falls into this category,rifle is like brand new,i have been shooting it very little and took it hunting only once.
This really upset me so dont really know what to do now.Even more bothers me that i thought that i have a rock solid gun and now kinda dissapointed...
I might sound a bit sceptical but couldn't help once i heard that some of these guns started to peel,mine does peel a bit and make me suspicious even more.
Anyone have any problems or heard of anyone having problems with the Sako 75 Stainless barrels blowing up?
I guess there was a recall on them from the company.
Does anyone have any idea how long does it take for them to answer my message!?
I called them several times and been leaving the messages with serial number,phone name and no response.Do they do same for Canada as well for USA?
Hunting season coming up,i have almost $3000 set-up that i am afraid to use,
i would be happiest to know that i have no problem and recall does not affect me.
I wouldn't have to go through the red tape,i like 75's more than 85 model and wouldn't miss a day of any H.season...
Do you mean i shouldn't worry about recoil or you just kidding me?
