I would not worry, there must be 500 of these sold in Canada and there are maybe a half dozen bent that we know of, however, at the beginning when we were trying to figure out if it was the pic rail I put a straight edge along the rail and out to the end of the barrel, you could see from one side to the other that something was out. Also you could use a boresight. Is there any way to tell if our barrel is affected without firing it? I haven't been able to fire mine yet.
A standard manufacturers defect warranty, shooting 3 feet to the right, I Assume would come under that umbrella! What's the warranty under Savage?
Well that may be positive news, hopefully they will come quickly and put our rifles at the top of the pile for repair, Grech is backed up at least 2-3 months!I spoke to the warranty center here in Quebec and was told that they received an email from Debora at Savage USA that all their paperwork is in order and they will proceed with the order.
Let's see how long it will take from this point forward.
Thanks, I will wait till next week and if no reply, I will rattle his chain again! I have to wonder, what quality control they have in the accuracy department, I would have thought they would at least test fire or bore sight these rifles, and if they do, the guy doing it should open his/her eyes! Not a good start for a rifle that was reportedly put up to LE/MIL folks so they could see how great these are! It is not that there will be a lemon or two, but the follow up and length of time to rectify the situation is a real problem!Bobdbldr, Ernie's number is the standard Savage Canada number (705) 652-8000, I don't have an extension for him. It took quite a few days for him to reply back to me as well.
To add to this discussion, picked up a 10TR (24" barrel) this summer from SFRC . Swapped over my Bushnell Elite 10X40 with TPS rings and 20 moa 1-piece base from my 10FP; all bolts/screws torqued to factory recommendations including action screws; bored sighted as per established methods. Yesterday headed to range for first time; first 3 shots off the paper right approx. 30" @ 100 yards. FYI, 10FP easily shot 1/2" groups at 100, no problem with sighting in, etc.
Had shooting partner do 3 shots to confirm...eventually ran out of windage adjustment to get POI near center of target. Grouping of shots not an issue...
Have not contacted SFRC yet, but very soon. Any suggestions who else to call? Savage? Is this a barrel problem or scope base hole misalignment?
I was able to get ahold of a Savage Canada rep. He seemed genuinely concerned about the length of time people have been waiting for replacement barrels. He provided me with his email address ( ebarriage@savagecanada.com ) to provide him the serial number and what issues were experienced with the rifle and how long the rifle has been at the warranty centre. I encourage anyone who is still waiting for a replacement barrel, to contact Mr. Barriage regarding this problem.
Follow-up on my post, called SFRC to advise them of the issue. Awesome lady (Marcie) at SFRC was aware of the issue and offered to send replacement immediately. Received the replacement within 2 weeks. Curious of what serial numbers that have been identified as problematic? Mine was J348547, replacement J348612.
Awesome, maybe he will do the same for the rest of us, I will call his office tomorrow!Received an email from Ernie this morning, he was able to secure a replacement rifle for me. Should see it soon..........I hope
A couple things to update.
1. Handloads ~ I just loaded and shot some 168 gr A-Max bullets over 41 gr of Varget with stellar results. The 3 round group size was .250". I'll try to post a picture with calipers to show the result.
2. Boyds gunstocks just sent notification that my new stock is on its way. Ordered a prairie varminter with an adjustable cheek rest in a nice brown/ white laminate. Pix to follow.
