Savage 10TR le/military

I have a Savage 10TR with 24inch barrel in .308.
Changed the rail to an EGW 30 MOA rail and have hit out to 1200 meters so far on a 18 X 30 steel . Vortex PST Gen 1 6-24 Mil scope.
 
Was reading this thread, I was planning on buying a 20" 10tr from SFRC, anyone know if the accuracy issues with the barrels are all worked out? Don't want to be stuck with a lemon.

I was one of the unlucky guys who got an ( out of spec) barrel, there was just a handful I don't think you have anything to worry about, especially with sfrc, when this happened, they were replacing the rifles and dealing with savage themselves, as it should be, I unfortunately bought from another sponsor who just gave me grech's phone number and washed their hands of it! If it makes you feel better you can ask sfrc what they would do if you happened to get a bad one and go from there, but really with the sales coming up for Black Friday I wouldn't hesitate!
 
My Savage 10TR in an MDT LSS.
Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50, Magpul CTR with .75" cheek riser, ATRS break, and a Harris HBRMS.

Shoots .4" groups, better than I do at this point lol

5 shot groups?
Going 5x 5 shot groups on a target, i could never get sub 1/2 moa on all 5 groups, even with extensive load dev.
 
God no!

That's 3 shot groups with GMM. I haven't started load development personally yet, been to busy still tinkering with the gun.

As far as 5 rounds groupings, I'd likely never shoot a sub MOA 5 round group with anything. Need less caffeine shakes and more practice LOL
 
Lol, we are local, i have shot 1200 reloaded rounds in 2017.
If you hit a range located in Eastern Ontario, we could share the rifle range with 10TRs and i could share what has worked and was hasn't so far with mine.
 
Just adding a question to this thread:
I am somewhat new to reloading. I am measuring the headspace on my Savage 10 TR. I am using a Hornady headspace comparator with the D400 bushing and twice fired brass from this rifle (both Federal and Hornady brass).
I get 1.618"
SAAMI says: 1.630 GO, 1.634 NO GO, 1.638 FIELD

When resizing the cases, I plan on "bumping" the shoulder back .002" = 1.616"


So at 1.618" this would be considered a "tight" chamber?
Is this good...bad...doesn't matter?
How does this compare to those of you that have measured the headspace of your rifle?

Hey guys hope everyone had a great Christmas!

I’ve made the mistake of looking at my bore with a borescope. It’s looking pretty toasted. Anyone replaced their barrels yet and if so with whose and what? I’ve been looking and it seems cheaper to just buy a whole new rifle!

So checked with Mystic and their price is the same as buying a whole new rifle! Granted it’s a Shilen barrel but still doesn’t make economic sense! $495 plus $100 to thread for muzzle brake. 10TR is on for 15% off at SFRC.

I have the Cabela's Model 10T-SR.
It is essentially the same rifle in this thread.
What 10 round magazine works with this rifle?
The 55183 or the 55185? I think either one will work.
Cabela's does not sell them.
Any help appreciated.

Easiest way to find out if a Savage part is compatible for your particular rifle, is calling Savage and giving them your serial number and the part number in question.
