Savage Axis .223 or Merkel SXS .375 H&H???

When you can make doubles on prairie dogs with the Merkel, then you're ready for mbogo. I guess my vote is for the .375.

Do you mean, like... the barrels are two inches apart, so if I see two prairie dogs sitting next to each other, I just pull both triggers at the same time?

P.S - you have a funny name, why did your parents call you "boomer?"

Ugh, too bad! You missed this 270 I had posted for sale yesterday....

Anything with a Mauser action is instantly twice as effective on Cape Buffalo.

Sez the guy saddled with hoytcanon for a handle. Besides, Boomer is easy to spell.

I'll keep my eye out for some .224 slugs with tungsten penetrators for you.

My name was bestowed in honour of my great grandfather, Hoyt Emmerson... and rumour had it, that he had something in common with a Clydesdale...

Yes but a lot less accurate... JP.

Hmmmm... Why would someone recommend a "caliber" that is not accurate? I read that I probably need to hit a pie plate at 25 yards 8 out of 10 times in order to hunt buffalo???

Do you have any advice on what to do with the prairie dogs after I shoot them with the Merkel??? I'm assuming stew...

The only wild game I have eaten are a few starlings my cat, Stumpy, brought home...

Why aim for lesser performance... Go for the gusto, go 308... JP.
