Savage Axis Takedown model, new for 2014

once you settle the Canada post insurance claim I'll buy it for parts.......Pm me

I hope its a 223............

Boyd's wins again!:)

You would think that someone in this country of ours would have the gumption to get a stock
makin' factory like Boyd's going. Fook me, we built the Avro Arrow & we can't even tool up
for gun stocks....What a fookin' joke!

LOL for all the savage hate, an axis will 90% of the time make most guns look like a shot gun grouping over the same distance.

I think cooper lovers are just bitter haters that a gun at 1/10th the price point can out shoot them

PS: I don't own many any more and own many much more expensive guns but I have never regretted buying or owning a single one

I know a fellow who had a beautiful Sako AV snapped in half in the same spot while in the care of Canada Post.

In his case, oddly enough, the box the rifle was shipped in didn't have the slightest bit of damage to it.
One would think that force great enough to snap a rifle stock in half would damage the cardboard box that held it.

When he attempted to collect on the insurance (full value) he was told the insurance only covered loss, not damage.

Now, when possible, I ship firearms broken down, no pun intended, so that the parcel does not resemble a firearm.

As flimsy as the Axis stock is, I really liked mine. It fit nice and the grip angle was almost perfect for me. It would be nice if you could get a wood or laminate stock in the exact same design as the factory.

Regardless of the brand of rifle, this is such a worrying point from Canada Post. I had my scout shipped via Canada Post and it was luckily alright. My brother's scout was shipped to the warranty place in Quebec and when it came back one of the corners of the box was completely caved in. It's a good thing Ruger makes such robust shipping packages.
Was there a weak point in the Savage packaging or was this sheer ridiculous handling on Canada Post's part?

wasn't there a guy on here that had a video of him tossing his off a 40 ft embankment and it was ok......wtf did Canada Post do to it, drive over it?
(that being said, I hate the f*cking cheap stock on these)

Perhaps everything but accuracy. Interesting that they have an accutrigger on their gun while Savage does not.

I have owned and shot seven Marlin X rifles, in every caliber they produced except 308 Win. A few of them were exceptionally accurate, delivering five-inch three-shot groups at 300 meters on our silhouette range. That's 327 yards!

None of them, not one, shot groups larger than eight inches at that distance. Try that some time. It's a lot different than shooting at 100. :)

Had my axis out just this hunting season and did a 5 shot grouping of under 2" at 350 yards. Prone with a bipod of course. Using .243 winchester, federal power-shok 100gr. I think I still have the pop can sitting at home. When I get out of camp I'll post the picture :D

I have witnesses to this event.

NOW TO THE OP!

Canada Post will pay damages. They won't even try to argue IF you claim the damages were $100 or less! But if you try to claim the full value of the rifle you will be sending the gun to them. Once you claim the insurance of the full item the item will then belong to the insurance company, aka canada post. This will also be a good run around to claim the full value.

As for the Axis stock, I've had no problems with mine but that being said, I do wish I could buy a new stock for it that isn't wood :p

That is great shooting. Now, do it five more times, and let us know the results. Not saying it can't be done, but the real test is not a one shot event.

The Marlins would do it every time I went to the range. Still have one in 243. It is one of the exceptional ones. :)

I haven't done worse than 2.5" over 300 yards in the couple hundred rounds I've shot through it. Granted I'm not a good shooter and always use the cheapest federal ammo available.
