SAVAGE Firearms are garbage

I think for the price their bolt actions are pretty good bang for the buck but a buddy before showed me a rifle he got on trade. Told me ” look in the barrel what do you see?” lol what I didn’t see was there was NO RIFLINGS! Needless to say their QC leaves a lot to be desired

WIth Savage rifles sometimes you win sometimes you learn.
After 2020 their QC must have been wearing the mask over their eyes.
I lucked out with my Savage Axis XP (223 Remington) made before 2020 you will never see it listed on EE
Shoots great with both factory and hand loads.
That said, I will never buy another Savage product.

I had to laugh at your post as it is my experience with Savage also.

I purchased a Savage A22 BNS-SR online as it was on sale for a really low price and I wanted something different. When I received it, the laminate stock was cracked right down the forearm. I emailed Savage, sent them pictures of the rifle and box (not a single sign of damage to the box) and they sent me a brand new stock. Great I thought! Awesome service.

Took it to the range to sight it in and see what it liked. I could not for the life of me get the rifle to group. I tried absolutely everything I had on hand. Eley club, sport, biathlon, Tenex, SK LRM, biathlon sport, Long range match Nada. The best it would do is about 2" at 50 yards, with most being around 3 inch. On my last Mag of the day, the charging handing broke off and fell to the floor.

Took the rifle home to clean and inspect everything. When I sent the bore cam down the barrel I found a ring in the barrel and gouge deep into the rifling just past the ring. I emailed Savage again and sent them all of the pictures. They sent me a prepaid postage label and told me to send it back.

A few days later I get a call from Savage. They apologize profusely and said they will have it back to me asap. About a week later I received the rifle back. They replaced the barrel (shocked they didn't just send a new rifle), replaced the charging handle and apparently inspected everything else. They included a nice swag package including two extra mags, coffee mug, lanyard, pens, stickers ect. I thought okay dam, this company really offers good service, let see how it goes now.

Took it to the range and found that it while it loved the premium ammo, it did pretty good with cci standard, giving me 0.6-0.8 @50 inch @50 yards .certainly not on the same playing field as my T1x but for a semi, I'll take it. Set the target down at the 100 yard to see how it held. First round down the barrel and the charging handle broke off.

Took the rifle home and emailed Savage again. They sent two charging handles overnight. I replaced the broken handled and sold the rifle that day.

Not sure if the A22 is just a pos or what but it seems like everyone I know has issue with it. I have a Savage 220 and besides the magazine being clunky, the thing is an absolute beast. I absolutely hate Savage center fire rifles and they just feel cheap in my mind. I stick to tikka for any center fire rifles.

Has anyone tried the new RXR22? Is it the same crap quality? I believe its made in Turkey, but if it shoots, and doesnt sheer charging handles, maybe its the future, and time to shutter the Lakefield plant for semi autos
Dunno why they stuck with single screw take down. That effects accuracy alot.

I wrote off Savage. The first firearm I ever bought was a Savage axis ii XP in 308. Mounted the scope on it and took it to the range and couldn't figure out why this thing could not zero. Took it to a gunsmith and it turned out that the top of the receiver had a huge cant to it. Absolute garage.
