I suggested a discount for paramedics and fire service as well. No intent to offend nor does it benefit me in anyway. I just thought all emergency sevices would be deserving.
I consider police, military , paramedics, and fire as our front line responders.

My brother and his life-partner* are nurses. They should get the discount too!!!! He sees nasty stuff all the time and works hard.

My bro's female wife is lovely I just think its funny as He-L-L to say that about him. So many people look terrified of their next words when I tell them that with a straight face. LOL!!!

My question--Why are these big companies pandering to Mil & LE departments in Canada? These same agencies work against the legit gun community all the time. Am I the only one that watched all of the LGR hearings?

"Pandering" - hardly
"...all the time" - Drama much? LOL

You're dead wrong about that brother. We're not the enemy at all.

Lots of firearms owners in the Mil and LEO community.

If asked (and it's true) I've taken guns from folks - BAD FOLKS.

Good folks are good to go IMHO

I think that a lot of gun activists are very anti-police, or even anti-government (it's tough for me to get behind anarchists, freemen, and the like). These guys seem to be the most outspoken about Police and are active on forums, posting videos (YouTube, LiveLeak, etc). These same people seem to be drawn to firearms like a fly to poo.

The thousands of positive interactions the public has with police never seems to merit posting to these same websites. Nor does it merit comment when cops interact with a firearm owner, who's maybe tried to be law abiding but made an error, with discretion (good citizen gets a wee bit of slack)

No cop wake ups and says "I'm going to ruin someone's day and be a jerk."

We usually give what we get and have a good eye for fairness. We do however make mistakes sometimes... Like anyone.

We're not the enemy. Some firearms owners are their worst enemy.

+1 to that brother.

Since when do members of the CF work against legitimate gun owners?

Good point. I'm a member of the CF and a legitimate gun owner. I've NEVER seen any mandate, agenda or policy regarding gun control of any kind. The military takes their orders from the politicians, not the other way around.

Why is it that a lot of people are so upset that they can't get this deal, but when you try to sell or trade a Savage nobody want's one.

Because human beings are a contrary lot... They only want what they can't have. Stupid humans.

Yes low life.... agreed there... but impersonating a peace officer only works if done in performance of duty.

Actually since the impersonator is not duty bound, the impersonator only need to be gaining advantage, or fraudulently making some else believe they are a peace officer with the purpose of causing said person to do something the impersonator wants.

In this case, getting a deal on a rifle would be the advantaged gained by lying. It's more of a fraud based crime.

I'm super pumped about this rifle. I am concerned that it'll be expensive to feed and scope.

I've never done precision shooting before or owned a bolt gun.

Are the Falcon brand optics satisfactory?

I'd like to do this under $1000.00... or do I need to get some Pay-duties?

I got a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50mm with the mil dot reticle. MSRP was $600

You could buy a rail from someone like Ken Farrell, ATRS or others, or you could keep the stock rail and then mount your scope in a LaRue +20 MOA PSR mount. Might be a hair high but it would work well with a flat rail and an adjustable cheekpiece.

Good call, I got a 20moa Farrell rail (solid like Soviet tank!). The Vortex Viper going on top has a total adjustment range of 68moa so I can still zero at 100y but I'll be able to zero it out beyond 800y now. I'm putting my rifle into an XLR chassis, so scope height will not be an issue because of the adjustable LOP and cheek height.

I was looking at chassis systems for the Savage 10TR and it doesn’t look like it will work with the MDT TAC21 chassis, will it fit the XLR? Also, who sells the XLR chassis in Canada? I’d imagine it would be prohibitively expensive.

Just got off the phone with a savage tech on this gun. He doesn't know if any stocks that work 100% with the bottom bolt release, but he said thy are coming out as a lot of the models are going this way...
one an other note. if your looking for a cost effective way to add a brake to this rifle is use the brake of the model 10 BA.
part # 107642 (brake). 107491 (crush washer). only problem right now is they are in the middle of renewing the export licence, so he said should be able to ship to Canada next month sometime.
brake was $28 washer was $5.

I emailed XLR Industries and they confirmed the bolt release in the trigger guard will work in their chassis. Also, they will ship direct to Canada. Price is a bit much, but comparable to AI or the Tac21. Tactical Evolution Chassis is $790 before tax & shipping. I have yet to see an after market stock that's super affordable. Wildcat stocks are very decent quality and price, but not exactly what I want for this project...

Ok, cool, thanks for the info, I’ll look into it. I was also looking at the Cadex chassis, but that one is definitely $2k+
