I got an idea, get savage to open the deal up to the public, then they don't have to get special id and you will sell 4 times as many rifles, getting the word out to le/mil/us folks and we promise to tell the buyers in the military and police forces how great these are!! No,,ok, just a thought to get around the sending I.D. thing! ;0)

Ah, maybe I am missing something here. If so, someone please enlighten me. I don't believe it is so much of a discount (price) that has some members upset but the "exclusive" target group ? If that is the case then I can't imagine why anyone's Service/Unit should be concerned. You are not excepting a gratuity, but purchasing an item at a price as directed by the Manufacturer. Sorry if This came across as preachy....
The Savage importer gets a form I fill out showing that I verified the person getting the rifle is LE/Mil then I shred/burn/delete the info....I have to heat the shop some how
I'll be emailing the form to everyone that purchased a rifle later this week and calling everyone to let them know about all of the other LE programs that are offered.

Is it not a 700 in a AICS Chassis?
8.5 lbs with the 20" barrel. I would guess around 9 lbs for the 24" version.
My friend at work has a 26", heavy barrel, Savage .308 that cost him $800 ten years ago and shoots toonie size groups at 200 yards. This is a great deal. A lot of people said 'thank you' to me on Remembrance Day, but Savage and a few helpful retailers have found a way to truly thank us all! Cheers

couldn't have said it better. i'm a reservist as well coming up on 8 years service with a tour back in 2010 in Afghanistan. We soldier right up alongside our REG F counterparts and endure the same hardships they do on deployment, so stand up and be proud! glad to see so many military members getting in on this deal.
btw, i just put in my order. thanks Ryan for putting this soldier in the poor house, it's never felt so good
This rifle IS available to the public. It started out as a Cabela's only deal and they called it the Savage 10T. Exact same rifle. I'm not sure how to feel about this...
I'm not going to cancel my order. It's still a great rifle for a great price.
But don't be fooled, it's not completely exclusive. I found it on the U.S. Cabela's website but a search of the Edmonton Cabela's came up blank.

I'm not sure if this was a limited production Cabela's deal but it appears to be identical to the 10TR.
5R rifling, 24" heavy threaded barrel. Might have trouble finding it in Canada, but it is available to U.S. civvies for $600 as well.
Yes and another sponsor on cgn that imports guns has a number of diff 10-tr and 10 fcp that include a muzzle break and some sort of scope, on sale now for $835 so a bit more but include more, good deals! In the U.S. these are no longer just for LEO/MIL. I think it is offered just to those groups first and at a good price to get the word out about quality/ accuracy! No problem getting one though, if you want one!
