The S&L

is probably my favorite bolt action rifle. On the red cover of an early Norma reloading manual, there are three cartridges shown. Supposedly they are the the result of a development co-operation between Norma and S&L. The 7x61 S&H, 308 Norma Magnum and the 358 Norma Magnum. I'm basically a shooter and hunter, not a collector but I did make it a 'quest' of sorts to acquire the three, in S&L's. The 7x61 S&H and the 308 NM were calibre leaders and followed by development in North America,

years later, of the 7mm Remington Mag and the 300 Winchester Mag. As I've been told, following the intro of the 7mm RM, Norma supposedly made a few

'changes' to the inner profile and the metallurgy of the 7x61 S&H case in an effort to 'match' the 7mm RM. These later cases were head stamped 7x61 Super a change from the earlier head stamp of 7x61 S&H. Hunting around a little, brass can be acquired. Nothing shabby about the 7x61 and mine got the call a couple of years ago for an Antelope hunt in AB. The 358 NM gets the call for my next Moose hunt.
