Scope base options for Kimber?

can't get low enough with the sports match, the um look good and address a few things better than sports match (like better cap screws/nitrided etc., adjustable recoil pin location in front ring so you can keep ring from being over the ejection port), neither go low enough to match x-low talley ring heights which are all many of us will accept for proper cheek weld on sporter stocks, for those building rigs, chassis, massive scopes...find your comb solutions....for many we'd rather just find ring solutions and use regular size scopes, I have always found this a pain in the arse to research out for many rifles

having said that, the clamp style of sports match and um with a recoil pin would be awesome, why neither of those two can build an x-low or low to get down to those heights with 7075 or steel, still able to utilize a recoil pin and not hover the ejection port is the miss, just do it and this thread wouldn't exist lol

Right, so for the 40mm and less guys they are too tall. Or I should say for those who want best cheek alignment without finding a solution to add to the stock or replace the stock the options are very limited to non existent so you compromise one way or the other. Right now options as I see are Talley x-low but robust is the question, to go robust and that low you do the fack around and find out game, area 419 rail skimmed to zero moa and grind/file or machine front to a taper to clear bell, and the rear of rail as well to clear eye piece mag adjustment ring and use weaver detach top mount lows, still looking for alternative rings to those as the x-low arc end up 1/8” higher than this and likely into the sports match height range. I’m currently building one and doing the rail thing this time as the clamp style options including sphur and everything else available does not get low enough. So if you want more robust than Talley but the proper height for their sporter stock...you get to play the game. So anyone coming out with more robust but low enough solutions will have a bunch of orders I’m guessing. Tikkas are a good place to focus resources if you find a hole in the product range which is what’s being identified here. Yes majority just live with lifting head or weren’t building sleek lightweight sporters anyway so have no problem with higher rings for fat scopes and adding cheek riser options or new stocks etc. Sounds like similar issues here for the Kimber. I think the custom route worth looking at, off the shelf for the kimber I’d be looking at warne or Burris steal bases and weaver top mount lows, not the prettiest but they’d be a different level of tough than the Talley. Good luck op, hope you find your acceptable solution.

Herein lies the challenge of ring manufacture. We have multiple action types (and variants), multiple ring heights, multiple scope tube diameters. Add to that multiple desired material/finishes as well as ring styles/aesthetics and you've quickly got 1000s of part numbers to develop, manufacture and organize.
Picking a niche/gap in the market is more doable, but volumes will be low by contrast. I'm always open to offering new products, some sort of ultra low, ultra light, "skookum mounts" for a common (and consistent) platform like the Tikka might just be an idea. I'll start a thread in my own section so not to derail Underthegun's thread.
