Scorpio EM332A mods - making a silk purse from a sow's ear

Made a spring tonight. Pull is now 2.3# down from 3.8#.

See how mine is different? I find it weird that a company would go through the pain of having THREE+ different versions of a trigger assembly.
A different trigger in the same 'A' series? or just in the 13" unit?
Have a 13" 332 A on the way , will be disappointed if the trigger is somehow a letdown

I printed mine standing on the front edge with supports for the internal parts, doesn't seem to need much cleaning up and the spring and follower don't have layer lines to catch on. I figured this would also make the lip that catches the flange at the bottom of the magazine stronger, because I'm not relying on just the layer adhesion for strength. But it does make the hole for the screw not as strong, so I guess it's kind of a moot point. I'm using Duramic pla+, and printing at 215-220°, and it seems like pretty good stuff. Definitely better layer adhesion than some of the regular pla I've tried that prints at 190-200°. As far as the follower fitting in the base, I tried this on one of my ns522 5 round mags, and while it looks like the same follower, it's a tiny bit bigger and doesn't fit. Hopefully that's not just due to part variances, but printed with 4 walls, there's a bit of room to enlarge it if needed. A couple of the guys at the range were talking about +2 mag base pads for their Vudoos, so I've printed one for them to try out as well. That one I found on thingiverse though. Turns out there's a lot of that kind of stuff out there. I have a Wilson Combat 1911 22 conversion that uses GSG mags, and was able to print new followers that hold the slide back when empty and feed much better than the original GSG ones.

I tapered the top edges, cleaned up the sides and made a few spots bigger for my follower. I would rather it be a bit small vs too big. easy to remove some material.

I will need to do some more snooping on thingiverse but so far, there is so little to change on the Scorpio. Just give it a bit of TLC and it runs like a dream and shoots like crazy.

the 332X has a different looking trigger group vs the 332As... BUT in the 2 I played with, the same basic mods can still be done. There is another post for the 332X with some helpful pics and info.

I have not seen one of the multi lever trigger groups so unsure how they would be to set up.

My A is different than the A posted in here. My X had a different trigger from both of the previous examples (i posted a pic in here).
They all function the same but are not made the same.

The X means it's a 13". You won't be getting an A

I turned mine into a single stage. It's very easy to do. I just got a Tikka t1x and the triggers feel basically identical tbh.

I will probably be selling my 20" A now that the Tikka is here. No need to swap barrels just yet.

Thanks Jahn
I see that now, FOC shows both numbers in the item 322A first the 322X , not explaining what the X designation means, or that it may have differnet parts

I guess I have some cleaning to do and/or check out the barrel
Took a new 322X to the range, fresh from the post office
first rounds were CCI SV into about 4" @ 50, tried AE 40gr plated into ~ 2"
Had to try it ;), but should know better for something new

Had both my kids do their first ever PRS match today, using a Scorpio I bought used on the EE for my daughter. She painted the stock, I bedded it and opened up the barrel channel, did a trigger job, made a new bolt knob, added a short piece of Picatinny rail under the forend for a bipod, and stuck a 6-24 in some Burris offset rings on it. I made an adjustable cheek riser with a piece of plastic from a 5 gallon bucket and 3d printed adjustment knobs too. Here's a shot of it in the rack next to my rifle today.

After a bit of a learning curve early on, my son was running the rifle like a pro by the end of the day. My daughter was still shooting from some pretty awkward looking positions, but she scored more hits overall than he did, so I guess it works for her.

I bought the NS522 years ago from canadaammo i bedded the action filled in the god awful bolt handle area with glass bedding and closed the bolt so it was a more form fit, then put on a nice textured finish with a bout 10 layers of clear..

My daughter is now 7 and it's her favorite rifle.

My NS522 is my favourite rifle, especially after I made a better stock for it. I don't feel out gunned at any PRS match I've been at, even when shooting against guys with their fancy Vudoos. Not bad at all for a $250 chinese rifle.

Good lookin paint by your daughter, bet she is proud of something she had a hand in customizing

I have an Argos BTR 4-16 on order for mine, good choice I hope. Flat rail or canted?

Glad to see you out at another match with the kids... threaded muzzle.. excellent.

Just add some front weights and an ARCA rail and it will do anything a bolt rifle can be asked to do. I would also lean on a tuner cause all of ours really came alive with the better match ammo.

There isn't any difference in operation of any tuner. As long as they are heavy enough, they all work the same way. And you can adapt other heavy objects to do the task.

Tuna Cans can come with the 1/2-20 thread... or you can get adaptors to go from 1/2-20 to 1/2-28 or 5/8-24

Save your money and don't buy a tuner. The use of a tuner to improve performance with an inexpensive rimfire rifle is a poor allocation of resources.

Why? While a very few shooters may be lucky enough to beat the odds and get a Scorpio with an above-average barrel, most will be typical for an inexpensive mass-produced factory rifle made in China. Remember what a Scorpio is and isn't.

It's not reasonable to expect it to shoot consistently well without a tuner -- even with expensive lot tested match ammo. It's not a quality match rifle, and it's not even a mass-produced rifle such as a CZ or a Tikka, which may certainly be expected to have better quality.

Finally, it should be understood that a tuner itself can't make any rifle shoot significantly better. They work by making a very good rifle/barrel under optimal shot-to-shot set up conditions to shoot very good ammo a little better. In short, even though some posters imply they do, tuners don't work miracles.
