I see so many interesting 3D printed gun parts around.

Some people are very innovative and creative.
 
I was about to buy one for a 3rd time and make another stock, but went with the JW this time around. Hopefully, the inletting carries over into CZ territory easily and I can try selling some stocks for that massive market share.

Im thinking pseudo-flamed maple in a brownish/orange tone
 
Had fun at the range today. I'm used to shooting heavier rifles, and this thing is really sensitive to how you load the bipod. Here's a 100m target I shot with SK standard plus, and I could tell the flyer was going to be way out there as soon as I broke the shot. The orange circles are 2". The bipod slipped on the bench at just the wrong time. I need to start bringing an old chunk of carpet to the range with me I guess. Good start to spring break anyway, had the range to ourselves even.

My son hit a 300m plate a few times. It's a decently big target though, I think 16" square.

damn, the one I had certainly didnt shoot that good even at 50. I wonder if it just hated CCI - I cant remember if I had access to SK when I had them.

My big brother NS 522 shoots even better. I've put 10 rounds into 3/8" at 50m with it, using the same bag and bipod as I was using today. Results like that are why I bought a skinny barrel version for each of my kids.

Let the experimenting begin. Still waiting on some more suitable rings for it. Keeping with the cheap junk, the scope is a WestHunter 1-6 from amazon, and the rings are probably on a slow boat from China still. I still don't really know why I bought this thing, aside from it being super cheap, but it will be a lot easier to carry on a sling quadding or dirtbiking than one with a longer barrel.

Wood stove is a great idea!
Even with a big open space if the corner it's in is sealed up and even insulated a bit I bet it could heat a few people up on a cold day....
Some Coffee, Tea and even Hot Choclote for the kids could be brewed up as well... :)

The shorty has a great action that can easily swap out barrels like the CZ457. The rail is very good but there isn't a high cant version so that is limiting unless you can machine or use the Burris XTR sig rings. As a donor action and with a friendly barrel maker, I think this could make a great base for a fully custom build but I doubt any prefit will be available.

Alot of the function issues that plagued the A version seem to have been cured in the X version.

WRT to accuracy, the longer barreled versions shot better in the samples I tested. However, with the shorter barrel, adding a long tuner like the tuna can still allows for a great handling rifle.

There's not much more than the little corner you see with walls around it, but there's a shack at the pistol range with a stove inside. I've seen people a few times cooking lunch on the open air one though, and it's pretty nice being able to warm your hands up and stand next to it on a cold day.

Hope its just like mine. I bought it “because” . Now it’s one of the first out of the safe. Perfect for wandering about the property and if I drop it ,no crying

I can see that, and the truth is it's hard to hold any heat in such an open enviroment even with sealing up the walls behind it and adding some reflective insullation etc.... still a nice addition to the range to burn up some scrap wood and heat up a pot of something as you warm your hands.... :)
 
Is there a particular SN series that is 'Better Year' or does it matter? I have a chance for a 13 " in the 109xx range ?

Jahnj0584 - Totally unrelated to the original post, but how's your luck been with the new JW? I picked one up recently. I really like the rifle, definitely has some rough edges, but very serviceable for what it is and shoots well.

I have had trouble with the mags though. I got 3 (10-rounders) when I bought the rifle, thinking that at least one should work OK. Have been messing with the feed lips and cleaning up the inside, but I haven't found them reliable at all.

I found some 5-rounders and got 3 of those too. They also don't work very reliably, seem to be very tight at the top. They may work in with time.

In the forums here, the best solution seems to be CZ457 mags, which do solve all of the problems of course.

Back on topic, I've also had an EM332A for quite a while now. Every time I pull it out, I wonder why I don't shoot it more often. Great trigger, very solid lock up, well made and pretty accurate with decent ammo. I really like the stock too. As odd as it looks, it is pretty comfortable except for resting your thumb behind the action. Very underrated rifle.

Pre-64..... :)

I'm actualy not aware of any differences but I didn't pay close attention to the first models imported in the past..... it would be interesting to update the thread if there are any differences now.
 
V1 of new mag plates. Unfortunately the detent system on these aren't as good as a CZ but I made it work. Worst case you could add a drop of super glue to keep it in place.
