Sell me on a new cartridge.

338-06 or 35 Whelen Great intermidate cartridges ! RJ

x2 on the Whelen!

You need a 9.3x62...that would be your moose gun.

You're a little light on the top end, so maybe .338/.35 Whelen/ 9.3x62/.375 H&H/Ruger.

Or a fast magnum, .257 Wby, .300 WM, etc.

Don’t see anything in the .40, .375, .338 class listed

.257 weatherby, or pick between whelen and 9.3x62

These guys are spittin' serious wisdom. Get a .338-06, .35 Whelen, or 9.3x62mm. Everyone needs a sledgehammer that can still reach out a ways.

You could do something super crazy and get a 350 legend.

ha ha, that made me laugh,,.... but its sorta true.........

Alot of Fans of the mid bore moderated paced thumpers................. they do,when set up with suitable fodder- really thump a bit different than the standard common calibres for the deers an big deers-

they shoot well too not being magnum, slower pushes in mid weight rifles, for me in the T3, 9.3x62 was too much... however the 35 Whelen in a Ruger is sweeet.

My initial thought was 300wm but you might get more separation from the 30-06 and better fill the gap with a 338wm.

Anything over .30 cal. and under .45 IMO are medium.

If strictly based on bullet diameter yes, but powder charge and energy needs to be considered as well given this is the hunting section.

To me, small, medium and large has more to do with energy it can put on target at range vs bullet diameter.

6.5 Creedmoor

But does he have the requisite "Man-Bun"?

Well.. I read all the comments! Couldn't seem to find mention of 22-250
The boys on the rock love it for a moose gun, I'm debating picking one up for deer

Lots of reloader only calibers suggested. Does OP reload?

Components are hard enough, oddball calibers for factory ammo? Finding it, then a bank loan to afford it.

What caliber, ammo available at local big store, interests you?

I do not reload.

I've narrowed down my selection to .375, just now need to decide if I'm going H&H or Ruger. It seems like the H&H is more widely available from what I'm seeing in stock.

I would also go with the H&H just cause it seems more widely available… I rarely see 375 Ruger on the shelves !

There is nothing on shelves right now. Was just at the local shop buying license and tags, even for 308 win there was just a few boxes of fmj

You'll likely have much better luck finding the H&H overall, compared to the Ruger. Many more companies produce the H&H ammunition comparatively as well.
